Things You Should Know About Calcutta Institute of Engineering and Management

The course curriculam is just as same as others, there is nothing altered. As the college is affiliated under MAKAUT so the curriculam is as per their according. Like if you do want to pursue masters after your bachelor, then this is the curriculum you need to follow. Me personally i dont complain about the curriculum but yes the extra subjects might be a little too frustating.

Before the placements were good enough like both on-campus and off-campus. The college really tried hard each year for placement offers and as i have heard from the seniors, it was quite good. But in recent times, there are literally no placement offers and even the college has given up. TPO that should manage such oppurtunities are of no good and they are not even trying a bit to bring it some companies for the placement rounds. Now only if you are good enough and know enough to crack off-campus placements, then its good.

Fee structure for each field is different and as for Bachelors of Technology [B.Tech] in Computer Science my fees is 49,000 per semester so annually the fees to be paid is 98,000. I dont quite remember the detailed course fee but yes it was 98,000 annually at my time of admission. Also each year the course fee increases by a little sum. There are some scholarship that are issued and available in the college so it might be really helpful like SVMCM, MCM and Aikyashree. These scholarships are based on merit but again the required criteria is not so much so you can easily get through it.

There are some clubs like coding club, dance club, indoor sports, football, tech club, etc and they are quite active on college behalf's. The annual fest is quite a thrilling experience and its known as "Celcius" and its literally like a fever dream. This year the famous bengali band "Fossils" came along with some other djs and bands. Technical fest occurs during this period only and even freshers, and each field's farewells are organised really well.

My sister was already studying in this college so she recommended this and also i was planning to stay here in kolkata itself. Transportation is quite literally available from all sides, there are metros, buses, autos like anything you can ask for. Majorly thats the reason i chose this college over others. You can get admission through WBJEE and the admission portal opens around late july to early september. The cutoffs varies each year regarding the entrance exam.

The faculty to student ratio is not good enough like i feel there should be more faculty members available for us to learn. Well some of them are really good and approachable like they are there to help you out of any issues but on the other hand the majority of faculty members are just mean and selfish. They does not care about you and your learnings and even your marks and future.Our previous HOD was the best. In a semester there are about 4 continous assesment (CA) and 2 practicals (PCA) then the finals consisting of all the theory papers, practicals, and lab manuals.

There is no subordinate hostel of the college so there is no night life but in times of fests and celebration there is no limit so there is all the fun.Library is quite good and is open as per the college timings and similarly for the canteens. There are 2 canteen branches thus there is an availibilty of everything you want. Though there is no hostel but there are availibilty of PGs all around so thats not an issue. The college is quite in a busy and crowded area so there's nothing we lack of and yes the locality is really safe to roam at night, as there is a police station near the regarding area and there are often police patrols going on.
