Course Curriculum Overview

4

Well i chose sociology as i loved the subject. This discourse changed my way of viewing the world. This curriculum prepares us for real-world situations alot. Well in our college it could be a little better if they started teachong more of indian sociology other than only western sociology

Internships Opportunities

5

We have a placement cell in our college. Which gives students an opportunity to do internship and also get jobs. Companies like infosys, deloitte give the students to nurture their abilities. Both full time placement and pre placement offers are available

Fees and Financial Aid

My year wise course fee was 56900 And a total fee was 1,70,700 rupees for the 3 years. All the categories paid the same amount irrespective of their quotas Fr.huart scholarship is granted to students based on their class performance

Campus Life

5

Xavotsav is one the most renowned fests in our college which is know nationwide. Other than that we have kalopsia, bonfire night and other events also. The library facility is also very good. All books and journals are available there. We have smart boards and projectors in our classrooms which helps in meaningful educational activities Sports and extracurricular activities are also focused upon where we daily have these activities We have student run clubs like fine arts society, Xavier's academy of dance and music too

Admission

I applied in jadavpur university, presidency university, bhawanipur education society and st. Xavier's. St.xaviers was always my dream college. I got into all the colleges that i had applied to but chose xaviers over everything else. We have to give an admission exam in all the above mentioned colleges to get admission

Faculty

4

Our department has a total of 8 professors. They are approachable to some extent but get angry is approached a few times Sociology department faculties and mass communication faculties are the best. There are 2 exams one is the mid semester of 20 marks and the other is the end sems whichbis of 80 marks.

Night Life

5

We do not have gyms in our campus. But the hostel facility is very good. People from abroad our outside of kolkata are only allowed to stay there. Hostel timings aren't flexible but very rigid. We have a lot of cafes around our college and hostel campus which makes it possible for students to enjoy their college life with their friends

Course Curriculum Overview:

There are several prospects, especially peer-to-peer counseling, where you get a mentor. We call it mentor mentee program. So, there will be groups of students, and each group will have a mentor who helps you whenever you face any issues whether in real life or in your academic journey. They’re always there for you. There are also remedial classes, and extracurricular activities are included in the curriculum. You even get the freedom to choose what you want to pursue creatively, like joining poetry clubs and similar groups. Right now, I’m at Banaras University, and the curriculum here is really good. We have sessions on public speaking, how to conduct interviews, and many other practical skills. These are highly commendable because they help you in professional situations like the one I’m in now. However, I would say that teachers could be a bit more active with electronic tools like using PPT presentations or audio-visual methods instead long lecture sessions. As for exams, I wouldn’t say they’re too difficult because there are many weekly assessments and sessionals, which actually help you evaluate yourself better.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I used to read so many novels from my childhood and that inspired me in getting attracted to this field. We used to have the fecility of having seminar in the end of every month after compleating of each lessons. And this process helped us in true education. After every year professors from differnt parts of the country used to come for a seminer for overall groth of the students. Actually is theory teaching style is followed in the college, according to me some developments in the practical teaching can be used. Semister is held at the end of every six months and the exams are used to be moderate in nature.
