Course Curriculum Overview
Well, I chose Biomedical Engineering because I thought it was better to study a course that are not selected by many people, so that I get more opportunities. And, of course, biomedical engineering is a good field, and there are a lot of opportunities in the future for a student. But the problem is our syllabus is not much optimised. They cover most of the topics, but only a little bit of everything that is not necessary for getting a good job .you need to study extra with your syllabus .
Placement Experience
Placement activities typically commence in the fourth year, while student training usually begins in the third year. A dedicated Training and Placement Cell (organized like a club) is responsible for managing both these activities. While MEC Kochi has seen impressive highest packages in the past, ranging from 50 LPA to 56 LPA, these top offers predominantly go to students in Computer Science Engineering from a few elite companies. The average salary package generally falls between 6 LPA and 8 LPA
Fees and Financial Aid
Model Engineering College is a government-aided college, which is under IHRD. SO they only follow a fixed fee structure no hikes I got a merit seat and it cost 40000 for tution fee ± 2000/3000 asexam fee
Campus Life
Our college hosts an annual tech fest called Excel Our library offers a good collection of resources, with most of the books mentioned in the syllabus There are numerous clubs in the college catering to diverse interests. For biomedical students, there's a dedicated club called BMA (Biomedical Association). Overall, we have both technical and non-technical clubs, including Mixed Signal, BMA, YUVA, IEDC, NSS, NDC, Tanal, and others. We also have a well-equipped Fab Lab where students can work on their projects. It provides excellent support and makes various microcontrollers and other essential components accessible, such as ESP32, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, NodeMCU, resistors, sensors, and even a 3D printer
Admission
I chose this college primarily because of its strong placement statistics and its convenient proximity to my home. Additionally, at the time, the Biomedical Engineering course wasn't widely available; only three colleges offered it, and this institution was considered one of the best among them. My admission was based on my KEAM exam score of 17,000, and I secured a seat in the second allotment. Initially, I was allotted a seat at SCT in Trivandrum for Mechanical Engineering, but since it was further away and I preferred Biomedical Engineering, I opted for this college.
Faculty
In our collage Biomedical department ,which is our department is very stringent when it comes to handling matters. They are very dedicated towards work, for example say our university says we only need 100 classes for a course, but our teachers give us more to make sure we understand everything well. That's Biomedical department
Night Life
The college premises typically close at 8 PM, and most nearby shops also shut down around the same time. Bus services become unavailable after 7 PM. While it is generally safe to walk around the college, most commercial establishments will be closed in the evening. There is a gym conveniently located near the college. Classess start at 8 30 am for first years and end at 3.30. For rest of the years classes start at 9.30 and end at 4.30.
