Course Curriculum Overview

4

As the college was amoung the first college to have autonomous status in Mumbai I felt doing graduation from such a college would provide me edge in terms of knowledge. The curriculum had new age subjects like entrepreneurship Management's where we were taught how to set up a startup ,what are the challenges it etc. Hence the curriculum was enhanced to help the student in industry knowledge and skills required to get a good job. There were six half yearly semesters and usually the last semester exam used to be toughest of all.

Placement Experience

4

The college had a Campus placements cell for handling campus placements. In the Campus usually Big4 Accounting firms like Pwc, Deloitte, KPMG, EY used to hire the graduates. The average package used to be Rs. 6 lakhs per annum . I was pursuing CA Articleship at the time of graduation hence I plan to complete CA after graduation

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees structure was as follows first year - 7000, Second year 8000, Third year - 8500. The above fees includes all fees like tution fees , library fees, Computer lab fees, ID card fees. In the third year the Computer Lab fees was Rs.1500.

Campus Life

4

The college had a yearly festival called Kshitij where all the Bollywood celebrities used to come for their film or song promotion . It used to take place every December. The college used to host other fests like Collosuem, Umang etc . The library was air conditioned and it had all the range of books like novels, encyclopedia , motivational books etc and we were allowed to rent book for free for some period. All the classrooms were Airconditioned and had a projector where we used to give presentations for internals. There were various cells like Mithibai entrepreneurship Cell , Placement cell, DLLE, which were run by students of the college.

Admission

As I had done FYJC and SYJC from Mithibai college only so I had enrolled in the same college for Bachelor of Commerce course . I had thought for applying in other colleges but no college in Mumbai was providing good infrastructure and facilities at low fees that time. The admission process of the college was a 2 stage process ie Filing an online form and submission of documents . The admissions process used to be of 10 days and only for submission of documents we have to come to college.

Faculty

3

The faculties of the college were very supportive and knowledgeable and sometimes they used to provide real life case studies to explain the topics. They were very humble and in case of doubts or queries they used to resolve quickly without any delay and they had also provided their contact numbers and email Id to the students . There were six half yearly semester exams of 75 marks and internals of 25 marks. The exams were difficult especially for Economics subject as many students used to get ATKT in the third year. As the college was autonomous the curriculum was little different from Mumbai university as it contained new subjects like Entrepreneurship Management, Indian Economy etc .

Night Life

4

The college had three canteens in which all the cuisines of food were available at subsidised rates like Chinese, Pavbhaji, South Indian, Bakery items , fruit juices etc. The library timings were 8am to 6pm and off on Saturday and public holidays. The college had a newly constructed gymkhana consisting of table tennis, carrom chess, etc. As the college is located in Vileparle it had Silver beach which was nearby from college. There were good food outlets outside the college such as Anand stall where all the fast food was available.

Placements in my college are decent but not very high. students usually become eligible from the final year and few companies visit for roles like accounting assistant, sales, customer service. The average package is usually around Rs.2LPA-Rs.3LPA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Due to NEP the course has been more developed to the students and teachers also explain the topocs to us very clearly and the thing should be change that the timing of the paper are at morning time which is at 7:30am it should be 10 or 10:30 because this time the students get late to the paper and didnt get time to prep.

Course Curriculum Overview:

One of the key aspects of the curriculum that influenced my decision to choose the B.Com course at Sydenham College was its strong foundation in core commerce subjects such as Accounting, Economics, Business Law, and Finance. The structured progression from basic to advanced concepts, along with exposure to subjects like taxation and auditing, made the program particularly appealing for students aiming for careers in finance, CA, CS, or management.

Placements society of college is just a decade old and still top companies like Zues Capital, Barclays, and Icici bank are among the top colleges that have become a part of ecosystem where 30-40 students is what each companies hires every year. Not many though as too many sections and 500+ students means getting placed even half the students can be a task where Mithibai placement percentage is 60 odd percentage.
