Course Curriculum Overview
Shikshayatan is one of the most famous colleges in Kolkata for Bcom hons. The curriculum includes a blend of theoretical knowledge. The course emphasizes the development of analytical skills. The curriculum provides a solid foundation for students pursuing professional certifications like CA, CMA, etc. The college also helps in development of practical knowledge of students.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees I pay per semester is near about 30000/-, so yearly it stands to 60000/- for Bcom honours. In bcom honours, there is no lab work so the lab fees doesn't apply for us. Including the tuition fees, admission fees, registration fees we have to pay 30000 per semester, i.e , 60000 per year. In other streams, for example in history or pol science the fees is comparatively lower and in case of mass communication it is 30000 per semester. There are no scholarships or financial aid that is provided to the students except for the SC and ST students.
Campus Life
The campus as shown in the college website is not true. The college claims the swimming pool and the ground belongs to college but it's school property which is a drawback instead. But there are many clubs in the college which provide opportunities to explore your interests
Admission
I chose this college because it's a renowned college in Kolkata specially in terms of Bcom hons. I always had a desire to get into this college. The admission process was smooth and the admission is merit based.
Faculty
The teachers are very helpful and they clear all our doubts and try their best to make us understand. The faculty is very good at Shri Shikshayatan college. The college placement cell is amazing and they make sure 100% placement. The syllabus is structured in such a way that the students get an indepth insight about the programme which will help the students opting for masters. The bcom programme under CBCS has 6 semesters. The exam takes place twice a year and the duration for the same is 3 hours for 80 marks.
Night Life
The college is located in the main area and its very convenient for students to reach without any hustle. The college has it's own gym but some of the equipments do not work. The cafeteria has a lot of food options. The library is well equipped with books of all streams and well maintained. The locality is safe to roam around at night.
