Course Curriculum Overview
Covers core Mechanical subject topics like thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, strength of materials, material design and manufacturing process are well taught. The inclusion of labwork, workshops and project based learning help students gain hands on experience.
Internships Opportunities
Students from mechanical engineering can pursue internship with companies like TATA Steel, L&T, Mahindra, Jindal steel, and Hindustan Motors. Mechanical students can also participate in industry driven projects related to area such as machine design, robotics, automation and manufacturing processes Internship usually last between 6-8 weeks during summer breaks between second and third year.
Placement Experience
TMSL is good for IT and software-related role but moderate for core Mechanical Engineering jobs Placement rate high for CS and IT, and for Core Branches it's moderate. Students become eligible for campus placement from the 6th semester. Major placement drives happen in 7th and 8th semester.
Fees and Financial Aid
In the session 2021 - 2023, I paid Rs. 56,500 per semester for mechanical engineering. The total Fees for Bachelor in Technology (Mechanical Engineering) course will be approximately 5 Lakhs. Also at the time of admission, the college charges additional 5000 for a bag and uniform.
Campus Life
The college organizes technical and cultural and sports events throughout the year. Festivals like tech fests and cultural program keep the students life lively. There is a balanced academic and social life.
Admission
While Techno Main Salt Lake wasn't my first choice it turned out to be a good option considering affordability, decent faculty and and IT placements. However for students specifically looking for strong core Mechanical placements, other college with better industry exposure might be preferable.
Faculty
In Mechanical engineering there are 120 students in total. Based on general faculty availability, the faculty to students ratio is approximately 1:35 to 1:45. This ratio is manageable allowing faculty members to interact with the students during lectures. Most professors are helpful and willing to assist students with academic queries or project guidance. Good interaction in labs and projects since mechanical involves more practical sessions. Also few faculty members are strict and not very interactive making it harder for students to seek additional help.
Night Life
Outside the college, shopping malls and various hangout spots are there, salt lake city centre mall (CC1 and CC2) offers variety of food courts and movie theatres and shopping outlets. There are various others parks like Nicco park , science city, lake town etc. Salt lake locality is safe. The area is well-lit and often students and young professionals walking around during evening hours
