Remarks

No negative remarks about my college. Positively I would say that the college life is awesome here. When you leave the college in the final year you feel the emotion. Moreover the campus is 160 years old which is the second oldest in the country. That's the heritage it carries.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum( in my department) is good. But I feel some subjects should be taught before hand the placements which helps us to crack much more number of companies or else sometimes it creates a lot of problem. Moreover I feel the environment to prepare for other competitive exams should be made (if someone aspires to do so). Otherwise the pressure is not much but it still prevails at times.

Internships Opportunities

Yes the college arranges companies to come up for the pre-final year students and offer internship opportunities which might eventually lead to Pre placement offers. I personally did not get any internship but my friends got and some also got placed afterwards in that company.

Placement Experience

3.5

The placement and job opportunities are very good in this particular college. Starting with the big IT Giants like Google , Microsoft; Big 4 like the PriceWaterHouse Coopers in the month of July and August to the core companies like Maruti, Bajaj Auto and other companies in November and December; all visit this campus and offer high packages and hire many students. In my department 50 out of 65 students got placed till the month of March. So I feel the placement is also good here.

College Events

3.5

INSTRUO- Technical Fest of the College. REBECA- Cultural Fest of the College. Other Club Events- OIKOTAAN (Music Society event), Anuranan (Drama Society Event), Individual Academic society events like IMPETUS ( Mechanical Engineering Department) , COENSOBEC( Computer Science Department) etc. Other Events like KRITI and Face off competitions are also held in the campus.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Feasible. The reason behind it is that since its a government college the fees structure is more or less like the other INI colleges. The fee structure is distributed accordingly to category. Overall fees for a year is around 1.2 lakhs.

Fees and Financial Aid

The GAABESU( global alumni association of Bengal engineering and science university) provides scholarships to students whose grades are good and to students who are economically not so sound. During admission time many banks offer loans to students. I was not a part of any kind of loan or scholarship.

Campus Life

3.5

The extracurricular activities are also descent in this college. Sports like badminton, volleyball, football, basketball are played by many students during the evening. Many inter hostel, inter year competitions are also held in order to keep up the sportive minds of the students. Other then that this college also has the GYM in which students workout on regular basis. Dance club is also very active.

Hostel Facilities

3

As said before that the college is 160 years old the hostels are also old. New hostels and living places are being built up. But current situation of the hostels are not good. The are repaired every year, painted every year. The common rooms of the halls and hostels have a TV and a Table tennis set to play. Outdoor games instruments are also available.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes they are very helpful. As already mentioned the GAABESU( global alumni association of Bengal engineering and science university) provides opportunities of scholarships and also industrial contacts because of their influential positions. These activities helps the students a lot.

Exam Structure

The exam structure is quite good. The mid semester exams are held at around September and the final semester exams are held around November in case of the odd semester. For the even semester the mid semester is held in march and the end semester is held in the late April. Other than that many professors also conduct class tests at regular intervals of the semester.

Admission

First of all we had to give the JEE MAINS exam(Bachelor of Technology) and then with the rank that we obtained afterwards helped us get admission through a proper counselling process. I had to report to the assigned reporting center first and then to IIEST for further process.

Faculty

3.5

The faculty at IIEST Shibpur are very qualified but I feel that they might not be able to convey complete information about the subject. There are also professors who are excellent teachers. Many students undergo projects under professors in this college as there summer or winter internship which results in paper publication or at least a conference paper.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements starting from the 7th semester. For placement drives, we have to visit the main campus, Techno Main Salt Lake (TMSL). Since students from other Techno India campuses and branches also participate, the competition is extremely high. In the 2025–2026 academic year, fewer companies visited. Only two companies, Dronahost and WishCare, visited our specific campus directly. The remaining drives—mostly service-based companies like TCS and EY, along with a few startups—were conducted at the main campus. The remaining drives mostly service based companies like TCS, EY etc and quite a few startups has visited to main campus. The package they offered mostly in between 3.5lpa - 6 lpa. Furthermore the selection process of those startups is quite rigorous often consisting of upto 5 rounds of interview, two technical rounds with two technical interviews, and HR round My plans after getting the degree is either pursue an MBA or preparing for govt jobs
