- They take too many student per batch. There isn't any section division and it's difficult for us study in a herd.
- Mess food was very bad. Now a new caterer took over. It's better
Course Curriculum Overview
The most important point is it's similarity to NET CSIR joint examination. After the end of 3 semesters, if you study properly, you will be able to solve 70% csir c section with accuracy. As laboratory is not prioritized, you will have to struggle for real life experience. But inside info: you can tag along with scholars to get the hands on experience. Frequency of examination is too much with all the internals and all. Difficulty level is manageable as per masters.
Fees and Financial Aid
1st semester fees including admission fees was 23042. 2nd semester fees was 3700. 3rd semester fees was 13700 and last semester fees was 3350. Exam fees is to be given before semester exam and it varies from 300-500, depending on the number of paper you opt. The top 3 students every semester recieved a scholarship of 2000, 1500, 1000 rupees per month.
Campus Life
A lot of of functions keep on happening. Departmental pongal, onam celebrations. INSPIRE programs. Apart from these conferences, seminars, synopsis are always happening. There are unions that operate for students and organize programs as well.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel charges are rupees 1000 per year along with mess charge currently rs.80/day. Facilities are good according to central university facility. Room is suitable for 2 people but they accomodate 3 people.
Admission
I applied to BHU, HCU and PU. To be honest I didn't wanted to come so far. But after I came, I realised it was a good decision. Competition is bearable, professors are interested and makes effort to teach us. For people whose theroy and basics is not clear, PU should be the choice
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is very low. But the faculties are approable, kind and friendly. They will try to help you out as much as possible. Prof. RR is students favourite due to her capturing personality and somehow whatever she teaches remains in our brain. She took some of the most feared topics and made it easy. Dr. RA teaches very well. He is practical, and his approach to teaching is very captivating. Dr. TSA is the most approachable, friendly professor of the department. Prof MD focuses on the learning the technicality rather than mugging up. Overall all other professors are good. They take the effort to teach. Laboratory I feel is not prioritized enough. Each semester one need to give 2 continuous assessments, 1 assignment and 1 final exam. Due to the continuous assessments it feels we give exams throughout. The curriculum is very similar to CSIR. So it's win win for the students.
Night Life
Male and female separate gym is there. There are many canteens mainly located in different parts of campus near the departments. There are two tea cum dinner joints present near boys and girls hostel area. You can walk upto the nearest beach. Auroville is very near. And Pondy town is just a bus ride away.
