Life at IIT kharagpur

The curriculum is very relevant. For each department the course is made in such a way that students are industry ready by the end of the course. Institure offers us much flexibility to choose elective courses in other departments as well, do minors and micro specialization too

There is an internship process which happend in 5th and 7th sem for Btech and dual degree students respectively. Many students get their dream internship through it, companies like Google, Amazon, Microsoft, optiver etc visit for hiring

The placements at IIT Kgp are one of the best in the country. There is a career development cell, which manages and conducts placements each year. The average package is 16 LPA. After 7th semester Btech students can sit for the placements and after 9th semester dual degree students can sit for the placements. My plan is to go for a corporate job after getting the degree

The tuition fee per semester is 1 lakh rupees. For SC/St students, the tuition fee is waived off for the entire course and they are required to pay only hostel and mess fees. For students belonging to lower income family for OBC and general category are given 100% tuiyion fee concession if their family income is less than 1 LPA and 66% concession if the family income is less that 5 LPA. Many scholarships are also given to the students based on academic performances and family's income background.The hostel and mess fees is around 40-50 thousand rupees per semester. It varies from hostel to hostel

The campus life is really amazing and vibrant over here. The best part is that there are no curfew timings for both boys and girls, so there is an amazing nightlife too. there are more than 35 clubs, cells and societites here, providing a wide range of exposure and opportunities. One can join any of these as per their interest. the institute conducts 3 fests annually: cultural fest 'Spring Fest', techno-management fest: 'Kshitij' and sports fest 'Shaurya'. Inter IIT competitions, General Championship and open IIt competitions make the life even more interesting.

Old hostels are not very good,while the new ones are fully furnished and fully centralised air-conditioned. We are provided an almirah, a study table, a chair, and a bed. It is compulsory for everyone to stay in hostel accomodation. Each hostel has its own mess and the quality of food varies from mess to mess

I did not apply for any other college because when JEE advanced results got out I knew that i would get into an IIT. IITs are the best in the country that's why i decided to go with it. To get admission in IIT kgp one needs to qualify both jee mains and jee advanced but the departments are alloted only on the basis of the ranks of jee advanced

The faculty over here is highly qualified. They are one of the best in the business. We are very fortunate to have been offered excellent faculties. The faculty are very much research oriented and have an in depth knowledge of their subject. There are 8 semesters in a Btech course and each semester has 2 exams, mid semester exams and end semester exams

There is no curfew timings for both boys and girls so the nightlife is very vibrant over here.Libraries are open till midnight but during exams it opents for 24 hours. The college campus is very safe. There are many night canteen also in the campus which are open till 4 AM in the morning
