- Teachers are very supportive. They hardly take any leaves. All classes take place timely and exams are organized.
- Campus life is amazing. Lots of clubs and societies, lots of fests and senior interaction.
Dislikes
- Our college is about 168 years old so infrastructure is not that modern like private colleges like Amity. However, improvements are constantly being done.
Course Curriculum Overview
My course is Computer Science and Technology. Since this is a field growing in demand nowadays I chose this. This is a NIT so placements of CSE are quite great. Our course has subjects that are sked during tech interviews so you could say they help us in landing our dream jobs. Profs make you feel the subject. We also have subjects like Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning and Web development. Some more real life related courses could be introduced. Exams happen twice a semester- midsems and endsems. Difficulty is moderate and you can easily get 9+ cgpa with class notes.
Internships Opportunities
I am in second year so i did not do an on campus internship. Although i did an off campus internship in Infosys. Many companies provide internship opportunitites along with PPO. Some companies include Wells Fargo, Goldman Sachs etc. We have mini project in our curriculum where we can do projects in our domain that can be added to our reusme.
Placement Experience
From 7th semester students start interviewing for campus placemnts. Around 200 companies visit our college that includes FAANGs like Google, Microsoft and Amazon. Many other Good companies like Wells Fargo, Texas Instruments, Deustche Bank, Goldman Sachs and many more recruit from our college. Highest package was 54 LPA and average was 17LPA. Aroud 93% CSE students got placed. I also wish to get placed. If not I will give GATE for PSUs.
Fees and Financial Aid
Semester-wise fees is 68000 for general and OBC category with income over 5 lakhs. Students with income less than 5 lakhs get 2/3rd fee waiver. SC ST candidates and students with income less than 1 lakh get full fee waiver. There are various need based and merit based scholarships you can avail like GAABESU and DAAD.
Campus Life
Camous life is great here. Lots of clubs and societies for dance, music, robotics, photography, videography, quiz, debate, literature. Our library is two storied with huge collection of books. Annual sports and football matches take place. We have a swimming pool and gymnasium. We have depatmental and club fests. Some of these are Nerdcon, Mettalica, Impetus, Udbhavani, Revelation, Sphuran, Vaidyutik, Instruo and so much more. And last but not the least, the largest cultural fest of India ReBECA.
Admission
This is a NIT and very close to my residence. I did not do very well in JEE Advanced so NIT CSE seemed to be the next best option. So i chose this college. I could have gotten admission in other NITs as well. BUt i chose this because of its rich heritage, excellent placement records and scope in research. Admission to this college is through JEE Mains. You need to get around 9000 to 15000 rank in JEE mains to get admission in general category.
Faculty
Faculty to student ration is 1:10 which is quite great. They are very friendly and approachable. Personally I liked Dr. N Ghosh from our department of Computer Science. He is very friendly and helps us out whenever we have any doubts. Some of them are strict and prefers maintaing a professional relationship with students only entertaining them during lecture, which is quite understandable. Exams are easy if you follow class notes and maintain proper attendance. Questions come from what profs have taught us. Not many students fail these exmas. Course curriculum is great and has relevance with the outside world. We gave subjects like OOPS DBMS Digital logic and Computer Architecture.
Interview Experience
No I did not face any interview on campus yet so i did not Face any GD or written test. I am in second year so my interviews will start from 3rd yr for internships. I will update my review once i complete my interview.
Night Life
There are gyms cafetaries and libraries in here. Three girls hostel and 10 boys hostel. Room sharing varies from 2-4. Mess is moderate. Boys have no intime. Girls intime is 11pm. Famous hangout places are Botanical Garden and Ganga ghat. Locality is safe.
