What Students Say?
Likes
- people, there are all different kinds of people at the campus. its upto you how you connect to them.
- events, there's always some or the other event happening at the campus, so its always fun to see or participate in these.
Dislikes
- fees, fees is too much considering its a government college.
- its new passing citeria, students have to secure minimum of 21 marks out of 60 (ik seems easy but this criteria was passed onto us suddenly so thats annoying). and if you fail in that then back paper fees is 7.5k. yea its a lot.
Course Curriculum Overview
ok so software engineering's syllabus is quite relevent to the industry's requirements and is very comprehensive. for the first sem there are few use less subjects like physics but after that, second sem onwards the syllabus is related to the stream only with subjects like programming fundamentals, computer workshop, oops and such. softawre engineering branch was especially made to meet the industry req and according to the teachers and seniors and course focuses more on training and practice, unline it and cse.
Internships Opportunities
internship is mandatory in the 3rd year so everyone has to do it, but its quite competitve to crack an internship on campus, but if you have skills you'll be able to crack jobs easily. the college provides eenough opportunities to you, you just need to grab it. roles offered by the company as heard by our seniors are of sde1, project manager, etc. core and non core jobs. pors matter in non software jobs.
Fees and Financial Aid
yearly you have to pay approx 2.5 lakhs, with an increment of approx 10% every year. the fees for sc st is also the same atleast for the first year/sem then they can avail scholorships and such later on when the notice comes (approx 2-3 months after enrollment.). there are many different scholorships available on the basis of merit, need, income etc. you have to payb your you whole year's fees at the time of enrollement only. i feel the fees is too much considering that its a government aided college.
Campus Life
the experience seems fine however you have to put in a lot of efforts to shine out, and be active everywhere yourself to be a part of something. nothing will be handed to you. there are a lot of clubs like kalakriti, step dtu, lfc etc. there are always some ro the other events happening in the college so you can always participate iin them or be a part of the organising community. classrooms are good for my course atleast. gym and sports ground is very big and great.
Admission
the main reasons are, 1. alumni network. alumni network of this college is pretty good however you need to learn how to make use of it, thats where many people get beaten. 2. its placements are pretty good even for lower branches like enviromental, civil, etc. and for cse it se mnc its pretty good. 3. its fees is high yes but still better than the private ones which charge you over 5 lakhs. per annum. i applied to many other colleges other than this, but i ddint meet the requirements because my marks were enough for them. + due to the delhi quota this was the best i was getting. i didnt chooose iiit delhi only because of its fees which is double of the dtu's fees. but iiit d's curriculum and crowd is pretty great too. you need to clear jee mains with more than 98%ile (atleast for general) to get a decent branch. and you need more than 60% in your boards.
Faculty
the faculty to student ratio is fine, there are 65 students in our batch software 3, 180 students divided in 3 batches. few faculty members are good some are annoying, like our maths teacher didnt teach us anything as such and expected us to do stuff on our own. and so did our comp. workshop teacher. there are 2 major exams mid and end term, other tham that there are few class tests the marks of which might be considered for your internals.
Night Life
nightlife is great even in the college cause there are so many cafe inside college, you just need the riught company with you, apart from that its delhi you can akways take metro and go to any other place, closest metro from the college is rithala and samaypur badli. however its locality isnt safe to roam around out sude the campus. its more like a rural area outside the college. except for few closest areas.however this should change in the future considering there are many other colleges near the college.
