IIEST Shibpur honest review

They are not only teaching us bookish syllabus but also helping us to get known with outer world with various practicals, practices and activities. My semester was started in mid August and ended in November end, in which we have given mid sem exams and end sem exams. Difficulty level of exam depends upon subject and semester.

Approx 50-60% of total students can get internship if you worked well on yourself during first and second year. And there will be many programs provided by college to get a good internship which will help you in learning etc etc.

Placements are depends upon branch like if you will see rhe stats of CST, IT, ETC, Electrical, Mechanical you will see awesome placement report and good number of high amount placement too. But if u look it branches civil, metallurgy, mining then they offers average placements. And there is very bad placement for Aerospace and applied mechanics branch.

The actual Tuition fee for per semester is 68000 for general category and OBC students, there will be 100% fee waived off for SC/ST category students. And EWS and OBC candidate whose annual family income is between 1 lakh and 5 lakh they will gave to pay 1/3 of the total fee and candidates whose annual family income is less than 1 lakh they will get 100% fee waiver. There will be many scholarships that you can apply for after getting admit here like there is a scholarship named as GABESU which is given from the alumni fund from the college and many more options are available here.

We have one annual fest that is Rebecca that is biggest fest of kolkata and one tech fest known as Instruo which is biggest tech fest of kolkata. And every different department have their different fests. We celebrate every indian festival here means if you are active you will not get much free time after all this. We have library here known as Ramanujan Central Library here you can get approx every book related to syllabus or any novel. Sports are just average as there is not much maintenance to their grounds and courts but students are much active and they actively participate in inter NIT and inter IIT competition and surprising thing that they win it. Rest we have clubs for every activity like robodarshan for robo lovers, reflexobeta and many more.

Hostels are old and not well maintained. We live four friends in one hostel room. You will get washing machine to wash your clothes which can need repair any time, which creates problem. Toilets and bathrooms are not much clean. Also in hostel room you will get one bed, almirah and a study table each student. Quality of food in mess is not doubt good the menu will be decided according to you so no problem you will face in this section. Outside college you can get PG on rent too, which are easily available.

As i didn't get the very good rank in JEE Adv so i decided to choose an NIT. When i was choosing the colleges i came to know about this college which made me surprised that it is one of the oldest college of India established in 1856 and is giving good placements and research opportunities. And myself decided some criteria and finalised that it is better than approx 25 NITs out of 31, so I decided to choose this college.

Most of the faculties you will find are supportive. If you are attending the class with patience and discipline you will definitely understand approx everything. They have no problem if you will tell them to repeat the question or any topic. Faculty to student ratio here is approx 1:12. You can approach them according to their time at their cabin.

In night there is strictness here you cannot roam in this campus after your hostel closing timining. During beginning of session you will have closing timing approx 7 PM but after few weeks it will increase to 10 PM. Library closing timing is 10 PM, cafeterias top, gym have different timings for boys and girls.
