Course Curriculum Overview
The mathematical background that the course has is the main thing that attracted me towards this particular course. Also, the department provides a variety of cbcs courses and optionals to tailor out the curriculum according to our tastes. The faculty members always encourage us to go beyond the course framework and work on research papers and even provide co authorships. One area that needs to be improved is the inclusion of dissertation in the master's programme for economics. Also a six month semester is wound up in almost 5 months.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee paid at the time of admission was 7675. Students are enrolled on the basis of entrance test they attended in which reservation was given to Muslim community. All have paid uniform fees which will be adjusted on the provision of E grants. Also the institution is providing different scholarships like Aajmi Scholarship based on merit. Students can also apply for National Scholarship
Campus Life
Jamia is an all embracing place of different cultures in synchronisation. Festivals like Muziris take place every year and the foundation day which falls in the month of October is something that one never wants to miss. In addition, there are different clubs and societies like Music club, literary club, drama society, gender champions club etc., that are contributing in their own particular ways to ensure that students have a rich campus experience. Regarding sports, the university has a well developed and spacious sports complex and staff to train sportsperson. The Aagaz-e-Taleem will stand testimonial to how the organisation of students can become a non profit organisation!
Admission
For getting into Masters, I went for entrance exams like CUET, JAM, SAU, ISI, and JMI. I could clear CUET and JMI entrance exam only, because I gave less focus on the other tests. Through CUET, I was selected for admission in Punjab Central University, CURAJ, Gujarat Central University, BBAU, and Central University of Kerala. Due to the distance factor, I went for Central University of Kerala. Going through a month, I was not satisfied with the academic atmosphere there and rethinking my decisions, the entrance results of JMI were out and I got selection. Also, it was an institution that I aspired to be at. As mentioned to get into JMI, one has to attend entrance test, which is separate for some courses and for other courses combined in CUET. For economics, I've to write separate entrance test the first cut off was 53 out of 100, which also vary according to subjects.
Faculty
The faculty of economics more than 10 permanant Professors and around 10 assistant professors on contract. The expertise and experience of each of them are mind blowing. It's a blessing to learn from.such great teachers. Personal likings are not beyond their command over the subject. The curriculum follows a semester system with an internal for 25 marks which is conducted as two assessments and an external for 75 marks. The difficulty level vary according to the teachers but comparatively easy to get through if one is regular with his/her studies.
Night Life
The beautiful campus lawns are always spots for discussions and rewinding our hectic life. The libraries are open till 11 at night. The campus also have canteens that provide tasty food. Hostel for girls will close entry at 10 at night. In total, the location around the university is safe to roam around at night.
