Course Curriculum Overview

2

The students of SLIET generally chosed this college due low fee and as it is a GFTI, ROI of this college is somehow great and that's the reason for me choosing this college. Curriculum is same as the most of engineering college in india, focus is only on grades not on practical aspects and in this college the problem is even more as faculties just do not want to teach the real life aspect of subjects. About teaching methods - teachers just do formality, just to show that they have completed the syllabus, they just read the theory and we study our course during examination to get good grades. Examination pattern is very easy and getting a good grade in this college is way too easy.

Internships Opportunities

1

The college do not provide any internship opportunities, there is a training program after the end of second semester in summer vacation for 2 weeks and it is arranged by the college itself. It is mandatory for the students to do intership after the end of fourth semester. Companies only come for placement opportunities not intership opportunities.

Placement Experience

2

Placements are not that good in the college, the average package is about 7 LPA and the highest placement this year was 11.5 LPA (offered by HUL), highest placement previous year was 22 LPA. Students become eligible for the placements in 6th semester (they can get PPO from companies). Infosys, HUL, Khanna mills are the companies that visit our college. 44 students were placed in infosys this year at 3.5 LPA, 5 were placed in HUL at 11.5 LPA(from Electrical department) and rest were placed in other local companies Generally, 70% students get placed after the end of seventh semester and rest go for off campus.

Fees and Financial Aid

Course fee per semester: 37000 (for semester 2 to semester 8), for semester 1 the fee is around 55000. This fee is in general fee, 2 students from each branch (1 boy and a girl) gets tution fee waiver, they do not need to pay tution fee (26000 per semester) they only pay management fee, hostel fee etc which is 10800 per semester. Fee is same for everyone regardless of the caste they belong to. College is approved under NSP (national scholarship scheme), after approval students gets scholarship (50000-80000 per year according to scheme of the scholarship)

Campus Life

3

Overall campus life is average or you may say boring and there is nothing intresting to do in the college, it is based in rural area too. There are several clubs in the college like : Sviesa(photography club), Mavericks and Endeavour (technical clubs), CycleOne(kind of startup) etc. but these clubs do not offer much as far as knowledge is concerned so Studens generally leave this clubs after spending some months. Also social clubs like NSS is also present. Annual cultural event is Madhuram and technical event is TechFest, but again these events is just a waste of time and nothing special or technical happend in these events. Classroom is quite good in the college with smart boards installed in every class. The college performance in sports in very poor due to lack in equipments and no proper training is given and therefore the students of the college is outperformed everywhere they participate.

Hostel Facilities

3

For first and second year students, a 3 seater room is alloted (room has 3 beds, 2 fans, 3 chairs, a shelf, a common bulb). The room is average but when fee is considered (4000 per semester, it is great). Every hostel has it's own mess where food is provided by contractors. We get breakfast, lunch, evening tea and dinner. The mess fee is 3000 per month which we pay directly to the mess contractors, the food quality is just below average. It is necessary to eat in mess if you are a hosteller, you need to pay the mess fee even if you are not eating the food. If you want to rent a pg , you can get it in 1000-2000 per month in Longowal (3 km from the campus).

Admission

I applied for several colleges of Bangalore through the COMEDK examination, i got the confirmation too but the fee was way too high (about 20 lakhs for 4 years) and the average package of that colleges were also same as SLIET so I chose this college over them. I didn't get admission in NITs or IITs as i got a low rank in JEE Mains (My CRL was 125000) and this rank was not enough to make into that colleges. SLIET accepts students through Josaa/csab counselling (JEE mains) and LEET exams (direct entry into second year). Admission process in easy, just select this college while josaa counseling, if allotted physically report to the college and submit necessary documents (admit card, result card, aadhar, photograph, gap certificate etc) and your admission will be finalized. Cutoff for SLIET is generally low (80000 for CSE, 100000 for ECE, 160000 for EE and about 250000 for Chemical and ME)

Faculty

4

Faculty to student ratio in the college is around 1:50 which is quite good as compared to other colleges. Some of the faculties i like are : Dr Jaspreet Singh, Dr charanjiv gupta, Dr Manmohan Singh because they are great in their field and the way they interact with us is amazing. Some of the faculties i do not like are : Mandeep Singh, Dr RK Mishra because they just do not focus on teaching us and rather taunting us for everything. Examination pattern: Minor 1 - 15 marks (1 month after the start of semester) Minor 2 - 15 marks (2 months after the start of semester) Major (end sem) - 50 marks Assignments - 10 marks, Quiz- 10 marks •2 quizzes are taken, and the average mark is added in the total marks •Bonus marks - 3(if attendance>85%) and 5 marks(if attendance>90%)

Interview Experience

3

There were no group discussions for the admission process, the admission is through the JEE mains examination, we have to apply through JOSAA or CSAB counselling. SLIET does not require high rank in JEE mains [about 75k CSE].

Night Life

1

The nighlife is too poor as the college has nothing to offer when it comes to cafes and other source of entertainment. The college has 2 gyms with average equipments, no cafes etc Hostel timing for boys is 10 pm and 7 pm for girls. There are 2-3 food stalls in the college with no proper food items and variety available. Generally students here lives a average life. There is so such famous spot to hangout inside the college. It is safe to roam at night only if you are inside the campus.

Other Applied Colleges

Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering - [DSCE] | Bachelor of Engineering [BE] (Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning)

Didn't find the college value for money and the ROI was way too less.

Placement scenario is good and it is improving since then. TPO looks after this process and it is responsible to call comapnies to the college and discuss about the eligibility of the students who can appear for the placements. For internships, students in the 3rd year appear for it while for placements 4th year students can appear. The average package is approx. 8-9 LPA while the highest has gone to 64 LPA during my college duration. Almost all students get placement.

Though when I got admission in this college, I saw the placement rates were very nice, around 95%, but maybe it was our session's fault. I passed out in 2024, and in that particular year, the placements were not as expected and as seen in the previous batch, so that was something very much disappointing because I paid so much money on a degree, only everything was good about the college, but in the end, placement matters during my session. Usually, the companies that hired for example, 10 students only hired two students.

College does provide a decent number of companies to students to get placed but as per seniors Companies come with good package but students fail to grab them. Students are eligible for placement form 7th semester. As data given to us from t&p for this year currently the minimum package is 6 lpa and average is touching 8 but don't get excited it's just the starting months of placement season. My plan is to get a good college for post grad as that was my plan from the start ??
