For me I found bcom a easy course to pursue for my graduate as i m preparing for professional exams side by side The difficulty level of exams were average to hard but not too hard but the paper checking pattern and scoring is reall Shitty under the calcutta university There were semester exams on intervals of 5-6 months The teaching methods of professors were good easy to understand

Internships Opportunities

3

Many NGO offer internships throughout the year some are paid and some are for free as a part of social work Many marketing and sales companies offer internships during the placement session offer 2.5-3lpa which is not that bad for sales

Fees and Financial Aid

This college has h a average college fees structure ranging between 1-1.5 lakhs for bcom (honours) and it also provides scholarships liks shri krishnashree for natives of West Bengal, there is no reservation available for any category The fees for one year ( 2 semesters ) which i paid was 50000-52000

Campus Life

4

There were small festivals organised during the year and one picnic kind of day in the 1st year The college library has all the materials a student would require to study form There were many kinds of student lead clubs and groups which helped with overall development of of student Freshers and farewell was organised by the college students

Admission

I only applied to this college My college was better from other colleges in many ways one of the main reasons being the teaching staff and ac classrooms and the fees being affordable I was covid batch so i was selected on the basis of my 10 and 12 class marks There are two batch runned through the day morning and evening batch and i was selected for evening batch

Faculty

4

Faculty to student ratio was 1:2 all the faculty even the non teaching staff were really kind and helpful There was semester wise and internals according to the calcutta university curriculum as this college comes under calcutta university Overall i had no issues with the faculty member whatsoever

Night Life

3

There was no lightlife in the college even at 8:30 when my classes usually finished there was very fee staff left and working in the college the college cafeteria also closes after 5 in the evening The area surrounding the college is really safe and anybody can hang around there as it is in one of the prime area in Kolkata

Placement Experience:

Placements were not there earlier. But our batch was the first one to get placement at St Joseph's College Darjeeling. To be honest It is not a college you should target if you are looking for placement. The companies were too small . The roles are way to entry level . Highest placement was around 40000 per month but it was an inside sales role so many opt out. There is not official data about placement . My plan was to look for off campus jobs.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose the course the b.com because I want to become the CA but after completing the graduation my family condition was not very good so I quit my studies and searching for the job. My dream was after B.com then I complete M.com then CA but I couldn't do that. I'm pursuing because I'm interested in understanding how businesses work and want a solid foundation in commerce and finance. It opens up various career paths in accounting, finance, management, and more. Plus, it's a versatile degree that can lead to professional certifications like CA, CS, or MBA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is of course outdated. Teaching methods are old. No case studies, competitions or project of any sort is there in the curriculum. Although a project of 100 marks is there in the final sem, but I don't think that's enough. There is no practicality in the curriculum and usability in career. The syllabus really needs an uplifment.
