Course Curriculum Overview

3

The curriculum is influenced from IITs . The current curriculum of my branch that is ece is perfect for real-world as the Texas comes for placement in our campus the curriculum is upto date for that. The area of improvement is that the applications of that is not upto date in the labs. There are two examination that is mid semester and end semester examination were end semester examination has the most weightage. We also assignment, quiz and lab evaluation for each course in semester these are also included in the grade calculation

Fees and Financial Aid

The semester fee for each semester is 95000 .there are 8 semester and for each you have to pay the fee. There is one time time Security fee of rupees 11000 that refunded after degree completion. There is full and half fee waiver for SC,ST,PWD and BPL according to there family income. We also academic excellence scholarship for each branch given to the 2 top student every year for tution fee

Campus Life

5

The overall experience is very good here. We have multiple clubs be that robotics, IEEE , ACM ,Google summer of code club, NCC and many all clubs are good and provide learning . Moreover each club has its annual event . We also have cultural club being in punjab we have a Punjabi editorial board club that perform Bhangra , theatre, gidda etc. we also have are dramatics club. The annual Fest of pec is called PECFEST which is the best part of college life happens every year in the month of November which includes star nights technical events of each club and also for every cultural club. We have various competitions in which many teams from different colleges participate like IIT ropar, IIT mandi ,dtu ,igdtu and many more. We also have annual athletic meet which includes various track events. We organising sports meet to in which different sport competition are there like my favourite badminton. Others like table tennis, cricket etc

Hostel Facilities

4

We have four different hostels named Shivalik for 1st year, Aravali for 2nd year, Kurukshetra for 3rd year and Himalya for the 4th year we have separate hostel for PhD and Mtech that is Himalayas extension hostel. The hostel fee is 85000 for 1 year which includes 3500 as mess security and 5000 as hostel security which are refunded at the time of vacating the hostel. For the rest years it is 75000. Which includes 3500 mess security again redunded at the time of vacating the hostel. This is only the hostel fees you have to pay the mess bill seperately that is approx 25000 for year. But you can fill the rebate for mess on Saturday and Sunday if you are leaving for home. All hostel have common room where students can gather and play table tennis, fruzzball, carrom board, chess and watch tv. We also have snooker room in our hostel which I love to play. The mess food is sometime good and sometime not good at all on that students order food from outside our eat in pec market. We have four meals in a day which includes snacks. The rooms in hostel are good for single occupancy but not for double. We are alloted room on the basis of Google form fillup the first one are given single and other given double and triple sharing room.

Admission

I chose Punjab Engineering College (PEC) over NIT Silchar primarily due to the significant differences in location and placement opportunities. PEC is located closer to my home, ensuring better connectivity and convenience, while NIT Silchar's remote location posed logistical challenges. Additionally, PEC offers a better average placement package, which aligns with my career aspirations. The institute's reputation for providing quality education and exposure further reinforced my decision.

Faculty

4

The faculty is good of each and every branch. My branch has both new and old professors. There are different tiers of professor in every branch that is assistant professor, associate professor and professor. The faculty to student ratio is good as each branch is divided into 2 groups that is G1 for home state and G2 for Other state. This makes the professor and students interaction smoother and efficient. The assistant and associate professor take lectures of 1st and 2nd year were as professor take lectures of 3rd and 4th year generally. There is relative grading in each course for number of student more than 30 in that branch. There are 2 exams one is mid semester and another is end semester examination Almost every student is passed except 3 to 4

Night Life

4

The night life is amazing in hostel and in campus. For the fityear students the hostel timming is 10.30 pm and for other years it is 11.30 pm . We have various cafeterias like Nescafe, combo, gyoza. Adding to this we have our PEC market which have every thing available in it whether it be barber, pharmacy, stationary, groceries, cafes. It is open till 10 in the night. During our examination we also have night canteens in our opened till 2 am. The gym is not that good as the badminton court and gym are in same area and gym equipments are outdated. But the sports ground are big and good. The swimming pool is also great. The campus is opened from 8 am to 5 pm and we have classes scheduled in this period. The library is opened till 8pm this is one drawback. But during examination it is open till 12am in night
