Course Curriculum Overview

4

English has always been of my liking and that's why I chose this course . But the way everything is focused on history in my semester kind of makes me demotivated. But I feel like this might come in use when I am preparing for competitive exams

Fees and Financial Aid

We have to pay a total of 16,500 rs per sem , which would be 33,000 for one year. We are not yet informed if the course fee would be increasing. I don't think there was any kind of scholarship involved in my program for students with reservation or bpl.

Campus Life

3

There are various clubs in my university and overall it provides a very good social environment. But if you are an introvert person who doesn't like to participate much in various functions and events it might be very hard for you to survive in here

Admission

I applied for Delhi University and Tezpur University. I was confirmed an admission for DU , in Delhi College of Arts and Commerce in English, but as it is very far away from my place , and could have been a financial burden, I had to let go of that opportunity. I was rejected from Tezpur University , as I couldn't get enough marks in my CUET for general test . Though I don't understand why a general test with maths and current affairs and science is needed for an English student, I had to accept the result . However students with much lesser marks than me gor admission due to their SC/ST reservation. I was very disappointed in myself beacuse I couldn't make it in there .

Faculty

3

The faculties do not feel too approachable . Most of them aren't even in contact with students after class. They won't even reply to your messages if in need. I do like the way some teachers teach , but I don't know if I understand enough to perfectly write a long answer like how I used to during my 11-12th . Most of the faculties do not know our names , and it just doesn't sit right with me as I know I am able to perform my best when I get the attention of the teachers and when they actually cater to your doubts and difficulties. I was actually a district topper in my 12th , but now the way things are flowing scares me a lot. The faculties I like are Bibhas sir of English department ( beacause he knows how to go about and around a topic ) ,Sayan Paul sir of political science department ( because he provides us with reading materials that can actually be useful in exams) , nibedita ma'am , anshuman sir etc of the economics department. In total there are 2 exams in a semester and these are kind of difficult in my opinion because they come in with 10-12 marks for one question. But the materials we are provided with is not much to write much long answers. Moreover I feel like some teachers are reluctant in rewarding full marks

Night Life

4

There isn't much late night activities for students who live in paying guests outside the university campus, however I don't know what it would be like inside the campus , as we weren't given the option to chose hostels

Course Curriculum Overview:

The institution provides a vast syllabus prescribed according to the courses . I did hons in english so in my field I had to study a vast syllabus ranging from ancient greek and roman literature to modern dramas The English course consists of poems, dramas, novels, novellas and many other. The course or syllabus is varies with different stage of semester or year In the first semester we had study the follows Greek literature and epic Roman literature Early indian literature In the second semester Roman literature Indian literature In the third semester Popular literature British literature American literature ....... The proficiency of students is checked in the exams where in the first sessional the level of questions remain easy Moderate to difficult in the second sessional and increases the level of difficulty with the progression of semesters If I will talk about the pros of the course It gives an insight of to the vastness of the world of literature which helps the students in different fields. It gives an opportunity to study different stories written by different writers from different countries and helps in to learn the culture, language, society, polity and the history of a particular period of literature movement. It also helps the students to think critically and creatively to utilise it in the real life scenarios. There are also some cons of this course It's vastness can sometimes make students burnt out completely due to the vastness of the course and the limited time frame where you have to cover everything from poems, novels with 300 pages to seminars , internships
