Course Curriculum Overview

3

The institution provides a vast syllabus prescribed according to the courses . I did hons in english so in my field I had to study a vast syllabus ranging from ancient greek and roman literature to modern dramas The English course consists of poems, dramas, novels, novellas and many other. The course or syllabus is varies with different stage of semester or year In the first semester we had study the follows Greek literature and epic Roman literature Early indian literature In the second semester Roman literature Indian literature In the third semester Popular literature British literature American literature ....... The proficiency of students is checked in the exams where in the first sessional the level of questions remain easy Moderate to difficult in the second sessional and increases the level of difficulty with the progression of semesters If I will talk about the pros of the course It gives an insight of to the vastness of the world of literature which helps the students in different fields. It gives an opportunity to study different stories written by different writers from different countries and helps in to learn the culture, language, society, polity and the history of a particular period of literature movement. It also helps the students to think critically and creatively to utilise it in the real life scenarios. There are also some cons of this course It's vastness can sometimes make students burnt out completely due to the vastness of the course and the limited time frame where you have to cover everything from poems, novels with 300 pages to seminars , internships

Internships Opportunities

3

I can't actually tell the details of the actual name of the companies of the internship opportunities available in the college as we are students before NEP. The students who are under NEP get the internships but from my view our institution not take any professional internships

Fees and Financial Aid

The course I did ( BA hons Eng ) is an affordable course for any student interested in literature especially those who have an aspiration to become prof. , teacher, journalism etc. The overall cost of the course is varied for different categories you can check it on the official website of Jagannath Barooah University portal. I can't directly tell the fees but ~3500-2700 INR But there some relief for St SC and fee waiver scheme appliers There are some scholarships which our institution provide to those students belonged to SC st caste

Campus Life

1. There are many fests celebrate in our institution from Saraswati Puja to cultural events . We have a cultural sports week every year in the January/ February month which is held in our institution. It comprises many sports events, cultural programmes, literary events, magazine competition where different students from different departments took part and represent their own department In the sport we have both indoor and outdoor games such as badminton, table tennis, arm wrestling, weightlifting, chess, online game competition and many and outdoor games such as cricket, basketball, volleyball, football, kabaddi, kho kho, rally, running, jumping, disk throw and many others. In cultural events students took part in dance, singing, chorus, and fashion show. In literature event we have writing poems, love letters, Along with these some other events such as photography, videography, poster making, slogan writing, painting also took place After all the events the cultural week ends with a cultural night programme where some of the renowned singers from Assam or local singer comes to join with us and make the night memorable Along with college week we have freshers and farewells Yes, we have a student's union under the AASU JBU in our college where some of the students selected through the college election represent our college and works toward the betterment of the institution.

Admission

I have chosen this college because in jorhat jagannath Barooah University is the best and one of the most recognizable and honorable institution from Assam and many great personalities had been passed out from this institution. Though this university doesn't have traits like others but it is unique in its own way. Also the fee structure is affordable and not high like others and comes with good teachers The admission process is so easy You need minimum 60-65% aggregate marks in the hs or 12th exam ( this is only for the english course) And 10% relaxation for the scheduled castes and tribes (~50%) You just need to visit the institution with your hsslc pass certificate and marksheet to apply for the course with the aforementioned fees in the prospectus. We have also a counselling session where we select the students with the best possible marks. No, I didn't reject from other colleges cause I chose this institution by myself.

Faculty

3

1. The number of faculties in our institution are outnumbered by the number of students as there are only 10-20 faculty in every department with a students of ~200 2. I can't directly mention the names but yeah I have some faculties whom I liked because of their behaviour towards others, unbaisness, and the quantity of knowledge provide to the students. 3. If there are likes then there are also dislikes so yeah some of them make student like me very exhausted and create a hatred towards them because of their harsh behaviour over any reason 3. There are total 2 types of exam in our college • in semester • end semester The in semester is the exam held after every 1.5 or 2 months of classes known as first sessional and the other is second sessional before the end semester In semester exams are to assess the students' knowledge, reasoning to check how much they are learn in the class. This exam is often comes with a lesser syllabus comprising 2-4 chapters with a total marks of 20 and sometimes 40. If a student fails in the in semester examination their internal marks from the overall exam won't add to the end semester The second sessional is same with the first one comprising 3-4 chapters with marks comprising 40. The end semester is the final exam through which a student can move to a new semester or session. If a student fails to get pass marks in the end semester still he/she can get to the next semester but he/she will get a backlog which need to be clear before the final semester or won't graduate if fails. Along with exams we have internships, seminar presentations, field works ( geography and geology), lab experiments for science students and PowerPoints. The marks obtain from these will add to the final examination marks and along with that they are important for upscale the skills of the students for future appliance like getting a job etc.

Night Life

1

Our college have a indoor gym where students live in the hostels visit the gym during the evening to maintain their fitness. The gym is a small house with a few things which are not in a well condition and the gym also need some improvisation. The boys hostel is situated near the college but no in the campus and the girl's hostel is situated almost 1.5km far from the main campus. There are no hangout places inside the institution as it doesn't cover a big area and students can't stroll inside the college campus in the night like others so we don't have a nightlife inside the campus The college has one main library for everyone and departmental libraries for their own students. The main library is big enough and comprising many books, journals, magazines and also have tight security inside.
