Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum is outdated with respect to the core branches like mechanical engineering, production engineering, and civil engineering. But the course curriculum for circuital branches is up-to-date judging by the placements. The mid-term exams were delayed by a lot. And the vacation for first year students especially, is very small. The difficulty level I felt, was moderate.
Internships Opportunities
Internship opportunities are given from big companies. Some of which include paytm, Microsoft and TCS. Roles are junior software engineer, and many more. Students are also trained to get internships. But the chance of getting an internship is also dependent on the branch as it is almost impossible to sit for internship opportunities if you are from core branches.
Placement Experience
Overall, campus placements in my college are average. The placement depends on the branch of the student. If you are from a circuital branch, the placement is above average with respect to most colleges in India. And core opportunities are good enough to settle in a government job. Percentage of placements was approximately 65% last year which is not too bad considering the economic recession. My plan after getting the degree is to get some work experience in "big-tech" and go for masters in a foreign country.
Fees and Financial Aid
2,00,000 rupees per year Hostel and mess combined fee is 40,000 per semester Admission fee was about 5,000 for the counselling required to get to the college. And 500 for SC ST categories There are a variety of scholarships available for the students. Some of which are Ongc and NSP scholarships
Campus Life
A number of fests are conducted here, some of which are, Moksha Dandiya. Moksha is a dance fest made to appreciate the local dance culture of this area. Dandiya night is a classic fest where couples play Dandiya with traditional music. Sport facility is very good. There are a variety of sports available including badminton, football, volleyball, cricket and many more. A gym facility is included. Most of the sport facilities are very good and enjoyable. There are many student-run social groups and clubs based on almost every modern topic we can imagine. Most of them are geared towards improving ourselves and getting better equipped for job placement. Some of them are also for exploring personal interests like dancing, music and drama.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facility is good. The corridors and washrooms are well-cleaned and maintained. Almost all lights and fans are always working. If not, the staff is quick enough to fix the problems. The wifi facility is very bad as the signal only reaches a few rooms and there is a data quota of 2GB/DAY. This is very disappointing considering the students need good internet for the job they are preparing for. Meals are also very below average. Definitely needs improving and mess hygiene needs to be better. Registration process for hostel was fairly quick and was done online. It was hassle-free.
Admission
I got confirmed admission from NIT Manipur in Civil Engineering. The current college and course is way better than the above college with respect to infrastructure and placement percentage. The only lacking part I found was the area of this college. It is very remote I got rejected from all IITs because I couldn't qualify the JEE Advanced exam. I went wrong during my coaching
Faculty
Since I am a fresher, I can only comment on the first year faculties Most of the faculty here is helpful and approachable The faculty I liked most is APU Kumar Singh who teaches M.S.c Maths and calculus for first year. Shantanu Chakraborty is one such faculty who is sub-par. Some are very egoistic. The course curriculum is a bit outdated according to first year engineering and core branches but the circuital branches have up-to-date course curriculum
Night Life
Nightlife in this college is unfortunately very sub-par. Most canteens are closed by 9-10 pm. The only canteens that are open are outside the college so we have to walk a long distance. The availability of food is not good. Bread and milk quality is very bad in this area and needs improving. The locality is generally safe to roam around at night for both girls and boys as guards are available and on-duty at most of the major gates. Hostel officially closes at 10:00 P.M. for boys and 8:00 P.M. for girls.
