Course Curriculum Overview

3

Personally, I really like the english syllabus. The courses under English were also interesting. We had film studies, food politics, war literature, visual studies etc. These subjects influenced my decision to join the course. Although my department was Political Science, my course was a triple major course. I pursued a Bachelors in English, Political Science and History. I would say it prepares you fairly well. You will have an understanding of the world around you. However, the practicality of the course in jobs would probably be less I believe. The course curriculum was designed in a very structured way. However, the way the knowledge was disseminated in class was not effective. For a lot of subjects there was knowledge gap that we had. Further they could provide soecific materials for each subjects and not just ask us to read the entire book. As for teaching methods, some of the professors were not really well versed in their areas. So there was significant lack of understanding on our side. The frequency of exams is fine. During the 3rd month of the semester, the mid terms were conducted while the end semester exams were conducted at the end of every semester. In between there were 2 assignments for 20 marks each. Their difficulty level was moderate I felt. Some questions tested your theory while some tested the application of theory to real world issues.

Placement Experience

3

Students are eligible for campus placements from 4th semester. Companies like Deloitte, HP, Godrej etc make offers of around 50k-60k. The highest offer was most probably between 50k-60k. For my course very few students apply for placements as most of them want to pursue further studies. But in a class of 40 students around 3-5 students get the placements they want. I wanted to pursue a Masters degree after the course in order to give me a better idea of my area od interest.

Fees and Financial Aid

The year wise fees was Rs 66,000 when I passed out. It has increased to Rs 70,000 per year recently. Further there is an additional Rs 5000 that you need to pay as registration fees in your first year. There is no other caution fees, lab fees for my course. Since I was from outside Karnataka, this was my fee amount. For residents of Karnataka, the fees is Rs 50,000. According to the reservation category, the fees amount will be reduced as long as evidence is provided. I am not sure about the financial aid that is available for other students. But there are merit based scholarships that students can apply for.

Campus Life

4

Overall campus life is really fun in Christ. Some or the other event is always happening in the campus. Throughout the week people are conducting games or singing in the quadrangle during the break hour. The infrastructure recently has been improved and band practice rooms, gyms etc have been made fod students. There are tons of organizations and bodies to take part in where you can sing, dance, talk, help others etc.

Admission

I only applied to Christ because Christ has the earliest openings. Since I got in, I did not have to wait for other colleges. Plus I had heard good reviews about the college, so there was no skepticism. The admission process for my course had only an interview where either one professor or a panel of professors will be there for the interview. They ask you questions about your school subjects and your opinions on issues about what is going on around the world.

Faculty

2

The faculty to student is perfectly fine. The faculty is really approachable. They are all very understanding of our situations and whatever you are going through. For my course I would like to say there was an International Relations teacher named Shalini ma'am. She really strengthened our understanding of the subject giving us very contemporary examples and providing us an engaging atmosphere to express our views. There was no faculty that I did not like. They were all really nice. All their teaching styles were different. Some suited me some did not. There are 2 main exams- one mid-term for 50 marks and an end semester exam for 50 marks. They are moderate in difficulty level. If you have read the material provided to you, paid attention in class and are able to relate the theory to the contemporary issues. Very few students fail to clear the exam. In a class of 40 students less than 10 students failed. The course curriculum is very carefully designed. It is relevant to the contemporary issues and also delves into practical world.

Interview Experience

4

For our triple major course, we had a personal interview where either one professor or a panel of professors interview you. They check your knowledge and whether you are able to relate what you have learnt in school to the world around you. Since I belong to the COVID batch, the professor asked me my favourite books, the condition of my state during covid, the steps taken by the state government to help the people and if i supported it or not. I prepared by reading the news a lot. During covid, knowing what is happening around us became a necessity. So i would suggest inculcating a habit of reading the news. Because it helps in giving examples of whatever you want to prove to anyone.

Night Life

4

Nightlife around Banerghatta campus in not as bustling as Central campus. It is a nice area to take walks around. There is of course Meenakshi Mall, the famous hangout spot. The alley beside the college has a lot of food shops. Simars is especially famous for its food and the owners are really sweet and always asked us about how we were doing. 2 mins from the college the main road is always bustling through the night. 5 minutes from the college is a tea shop called Winners. It is the Christite hangout spot during college free hours. The locality is safe to roam around at night even for girls.

Course Curriculum Overview:

- curriculum specially for BA is not like how you see in other universities it's a comprehensive curriculum where your also studying subject like AI learning, data analysis, regional languages and so much more it is a comprehensive course which is not only focusing on your major but also on an overall development of you as a student.. - well we are not only getting in-class lectures but we also have a internal component of internship every year which helps us get an experience of real world situations and job market. -There is one course called numbers we have that could be improved it basically talks about mathematical in economic applications numerical implications particularly which has not been given more thought on it could be more elaborated and structured well. - frequency is high and difficulty is moderate usually.

Placements are given in our college for a lot of departments. A senior of ours got placed into Reuters with a very high placement. In the last year, that is the 4th year, you get eligible for campus placement. After I get my degree in History, I will pursue my master's in history from Christ University only or from a foreign college belonging to the Ivy league. After that, I will pursue my PhD in history and also give the Civil Services Examination.

Remarks:

One of my graduation seniors was studying Azim Premji University and had all good things to say about the college. I decided to just search it online. I found the curriculum suitable for professional career. I was asked to deposit 12th marksheet scoring 68% and also appeared for the entrance test. Based on the entrance tests, I was shortlisted for personal interview and then the final selection is made depending upon the opted course.

Remarks:

I liked the course provided by this college. The subjects are different for every semester and the aura is splendid. This college provides a very good faculty which not only is good at keeping up with academics, but also is great in keeping a good rapport with their students. There is a whole variety of extra curricular activities which brings out the core personality of every student. I for a fact, had stage fear. But after I chose MIC, I really started getting over it.
