What Students Say?
Likes
- The greenery around the campus, the fests and there are dustbins installed after every few metres that helps to keep the campus clean.
- I liked the fee structure too being affordable and feasible for many and people being considerate, like they really try to help and motivate. The campus has good social interactions and there are many clubs for students.
Dislikes
- The administration is a bit slow and we get things delayed that becomes problematic many a times.
- I don't personally like the mess food and washrooms are unhygienic many a times.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course includes all the basic subjects required for basic understanding and they move in pace from easier to learning more and more stuffs. The exams are held twice in a semester. It helps to prepare for the real-world applications.
Internships Opportunities
The internship is mandatory for 3rd year students. For internships too companies come on-campus but they are few in number than the number of companies come for placements. For software companies, we had Microsoft offering stipend of 1,30,000 each month for two months of summer internship, Wells Fargo offering stipend of 90,000 each month, BNY Melon offering 75,000 for two months and many other companies.
Placement Experience
Placements were great for the 2023 batch but after that from the last year due to recession very few companies came to college and this year 2024, it is even worse than that. At least if 6-month internships were granted it can be better. But, the tech companies like Microsoft, Google also comes on-campus to IIEST.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
All the years we need to pay same fees based on your yearly income and Reservation Quota. They provide two-third waivers to those whose annual income is less than 5,00,000 and Full Waiver to those whose annual income is less than 1,00,000. These waivers are only applicable for Tuition fees and everything is included in it Lab fees, Registration fees. Mine is in two-third waiver which is I need to pay 26,333 each semester and others with Quota(SC,ST) or less than 1,00,000 need to pay 5500 each semester, rest without any waiver need to ay 68,000. Also, there is annual Alumni Scholarship Awards, Gaabesu which includes both for Academics and Research. The Hostel fee is compulsory near about 50,000 for two semesters.
Campus Life
People are friendly and there are many clubs for music, dance, robotics, coding, etc. where people can join according to their insterests. The hostel facilities include mess food, washrooms are cleaned daily, and washing machines for clothes to be washed. The labs are have good PCs with Internet Connections and ACs. Annual Sports also happens in the winter and fests also for both techincal and cultural. The tech fest is Instruo and every departments have their own fests and cultural fest is Rebecca.
Hostel Facilities
The room is spacious enough for two-sharing but is congested for triple sharing. It has 2 fans and 2 tubelights with a night lamp and coloured properly. Each person gets a chair, table and a bed. Meal quality is very poor sometimes we get rotten paneer or bread with molds, vegetables with worms and hair in food.
Admission
The other colleges I applied to were KIIT and SRM. Both of them are Private colleges and have more fees. IIEST is centrally funded, the course curriculum is also better and fee is also less. Also, Placements are better. The admission procedure was easy I got admission through CSAB round as after the JOSAA rounds I got IIIT Kancheepuram, but it did not have good NIRF and it was just a new college. IIEST is the second oldest college of India.
Faculty
The faculties are really skilled and educated, who try their best to share their knowledge with the younger generations. In a semester, two exams are conducted - one is mid-semester and the other is end-semester. All labs also have their exams and viva accordingly. Students who could not perform well get supplement and have to reappear the test. Overall experience is good and healthy. 75% attendance in each course is mandatory.
