Course Curriculum Overview

5

I chose this course because I wanted to prepare for UPSC. Course is such it covers most of law subject which is relevant for UPSC Curriculum here is very practical and gets you ready for the market demands. In fourth and fifth year, there are seminar classes which is taken by Practitioners in the field. There should be only one exam in a semester instead of two (mid sem and end sem)

Internships Opportunities

5

University provides internship through Recruitment Cell in the college. It provides internships to Law firms, Centres, PSUs etc. There is usually no stipend for the internship but it depends on Law firms, some chose to give stipend on the range of 4k-10k.

Placement Experience

5

University provide placements where manytop tier firms come to college for recruitment. Last few years have been bad for NLUD with only 50-60 percent placements. Before that there used to be 100 percent placement.

Fees and Financial Aid

Tuition Fee %85,000.00 Student Welfare Fund 2,500.00 SBC Fund 2,500.00 Examination Fee 3,000.00 Reading Material Fee 2,500.00 Library Fee 2,500.00 Internet Fee 5,000.00 Electricity Charges 12,000.00 Sports and Games Facilities Fee 3,000.00 Journals Fee 2,500.00 Moot Courts/Seminars/ Workshops 5,000.00 Room Rent 18,000.00 Hostel facilities fee 20,000.00 Total 1,63,500.00 There are three kinds of scholarship provided by the university; Need-cum-Merit, Hardship and Loan Based Assistance. The amount of scholarship in need-cum-merit varies from 10k to 40k based on the family income.

Campus Life

4

There are many events held during the year, like Freshers, Garba Nights, Christmas Ball, Diwali Rangoli and Dia Competition, Farewell, sports event like Battle of Batches etc. The library is packed with books of all genres and topics. There is also an e library with important resources like SCC, Manupatra, HeinOnline etc etc Each classroom has smart TV with sound system and microphones.

Hostel Facilities

3

There are 3 seaters , 2 seaters and single occupancy rooms. All the rooms are fully air-conditioned. You get three closets for three people in the room. Last few year saw space crunch in boys hostel, thay is why there are also bunk beds in single occuoancy rooms where 2 people live.

Admission

I also got NLU Jodhpur. The main reason was location, NLU Delhi being in Delhi, where there is SC, HC, Tribunals etc etc I got admission here through an entrance exam called AILET. The cutoffs are really high for the exam as seats are limited.

Faculty

5

Faculty to student ratio is pretty good as there are only 600 BALLB students and number if faculties in NLUD is 120. I liked Prof Anup Surendranath who taught IPC and Evidence Act and Dr. Daniel Mathew who taught ADR. Most of the exams are of moderate level except a few subjects like HLCD, Labour Law, Banking Law.

Course Curriculum Overview:

There are several societies , centres and committees that one can join like cultural committee , centre for social science , moot court society, youth parliament society and many more. The academia centres around integrating legal principles and knowledge into practical everyday problems . As first year students, we are required to go through domains such as contracts, torts , jurisprudence and so on. Further subjects would completely depend on whether you are enrolled in BA LLB or BBA LLB.

The curriculum is designed according to the blue print laid down by the Bar Council of India. It is comprehensive and includes almost every subject of the Law Degree. The curriculum is also designed to get the students ready for the real world. It makes it mandatory for students to intern in the 4th, 6th and 8th semester. It helps the students to get in touch with the real world. However, the checking of the examinations is lenient and not that difficult.
