Course Curriculum Overview
The course has been very helpful in applying to real life scenarios. There were high difficulty subjects that were hard to clear for most students in the second year. The course outlines could be modified to help reduce the fail rates among students.
Internships Opportunities
The internships are generally offered by companies in Mumbai. If anyone wishes to, they can do their internship in their hometown as well. The stipends from these companies vary from 10,000 to 20,000 but there may even be no pay internships. They expect you to handle smaller tasks or projects to help out the employees while also learning the functions of their companies.
Placement Experience
Students will become eligible for placement from the 5th semester. Many companies like Nomura, TCS, Futures First, Deloitte, DE Shaw, Nielsen IQ, Zomato, Tres Vista, etc. come for placements. The number of students they recruit depends on the requirement. Some companies come for mass hiring of about 40-60 students while some only hire 3-4 students. The highest package offered was 23LPA but the average packages were 4-6LPA. Around 40-60% of the students get placed by the time they graduate. But placement opportunities still come after graduation. I do not plan on sitting for placements as I wish to pursue my career in acting after graduation.
Fees and Financial Aid
The Course fees is 210000Rs per annum No scholarships were given The Security deposits is 6000Rs Courses like BBA and BSc Finance had different fee structures. BBA - 300000Rs per annum BSc Finance - 300000Rs per annum
Campus Life
The college usually holds club related feats every year around February. The most popular feat is the Vaayu fest held by the Vaayu club. There are other fests held by SRF Club around the end of the calendar year. The college has a huge library where anyone can come to study or complete projects and assignments. The classes are equipped with smart boards which are used for teaching now. There are computer labs as well, used for certain subjects. There is a dedicated sports club that handles the sporting events. But since the campus is just a building, there's no sports facilities on campus. The events are usually held at other locations. There are many clubs in NMIMS ranging from social responsibility clubs to corporate interface cell. There are even tech clubs for the tech dudes.
Admission
I applied to colleges like Christ, OP Jindal, FLAME, Ashoka, Loyola. I got accepted into Christ, OP Jindal and FLAME. I had also applied to colleges in the US and got accepted. I chose to go to NMIMS as I had heard good stuff about the college and their placements. I was also motivated to go to Mumbai to pursue my acting career as well. I didn't get accepted into some of the colleges due to their low acceptance rates and my low score in the entrance exams. The admission process in NMIMS is simple. You can apply through their online portal for the NMAT entrance exam. If you make it to the merit list, you will get allocated to your preferred location mostly or your second choice. You can also apply with your SAT scores.
Faculty
The approachability to faculty differs from faculty to faculty. Some were very helpful while some were not interested at all. The final exams were of 50 marks and the internal marks were of 50 marks. The internal marks are very important to get a good grade as the finals are relatively easy to clear. The core accounting subject faculties were very well rounded in the subject so this helped in securing better marks. The non accounting subjects were less scoring as they were very open to interpretation.
