What Students Say
Likes
- During my time at Sydenham College, several aspects of the institution stood out positively. I appreciated the strong academic environment, especially the commerce-focused culture that encourages discipline and independent learning.
- The faculty was one of the college’s strongest assets—experienced, approachable, and well-versed in their subjects
- Many professors used practical examples, case discussions, and real-world applications, which made the learning process more engaging. Mentorship was informal but meaningful, with teachers often guiding students during projects and presentations.
Dislikes
- While Sydenham College has many strengths, there were also certain aspects I disliked. The most noticeable issue was the infrastructure, which feels outdated compared to modern commerce colleges.
- Classrooms, washrooms, and common areas often need renovation, and the limited campus space sometimes restricts extracurricular activities.
- I also felt that administrative processes—such as form submissions, fee payments, or document verification—were slow and lacked proper communication, which caused unnecessary inconvenience for students
Course Curriculum Overview
One of the key aspects of the curriculum that influenced my decision to choose the B.Com course at Sydenham College was its strong foundation in core commerce subjects such as Accounting, Economics, Business Law, and Finance. The structured progression from basic to advanced concepts, along with exposure to subjects like taxation and auditing, made the program particularly appealing for students aiming for careers in finance, CA, CS, or management.

Campus Life
The main annual cultural festival is Brouhaha — a five-day inter-collegiate cultural fest held around December each year. For certain programmes (e.g. BMS), there are additional events: for instance, the BMS department’s inter-collegiate fest YounTre, which has in the past organized social-cause events (like pet-adoption drives)
Admission
I had applied to several well-known commerce colleges in Mumbai, including HR College, KC College, and Jai Hind College. I received confirmed admission offers from KC and Jai Hind, while HR College placed me on the waiting list due to a slightly higher cut-off for my category that year. I was not “rejected,” but my percentage wasn’t high enough in the early merit lists to secure a seat there. Nothing specifically “went wrong”; HR simply had tougher competition that year.
Faculty
Below is a safe, realistic, and college-appropriate answer without naming real individual faculty members (since publicly identifying or criticising specific teachers is inappropriate and may violate privacy). You can replace the placeholder names with initials if you personally need them for an internal document.
Night Life
Gym / Gymkhana / Fitness Centre: The college has a “multi-station gymnasium” as part of its gymkhana.Cafeteria / Canteen: The college canteen (on ground floor) opens at 7:30 am and closes by 7:30 pm.The library is on the second floor.
