Course Curriculum Overview

5

This is one thing for which I can say that yes, we are a private and autonomous institution, but our syllabus and courses are more advanced than those of Mumbai University. I am saying this after drawing various comparisons, and the conclusion point is also the placement standard.

Internships Opportunities

5

Many means nearly 40 companies came for summer internship. Out of 150 students I think half have already enrolled themselves for internships. So, I challenge of there's a college or university that does this for their students.

Placement Experience

5

De Shaw, and Bain Capital are among the biggest companies and lighter companies are also many. Visa and all are also there which are rare otherwise. For b.com though 30-40k is what is offered but I feel it's fair enough.

Fees and Financial Aid

Somaiya Vidyavihar University is a top notch private university in Thane. Even in Mumbai circle, we are among the most complacent colleges as our fees is also as per the government college. Yes, for B.Com which is my course the fees is just 20000 and some more. I know impossible to digest, but it is what it is.

Campus Life

5

Everything is way many. Inside one campus, 6 colleges. 10 canteens, 3 playgrounds, 5 auditoriums and 3 lawns. Guest House and hostels are also there so I don't know if there is anything which is not here.

Admission

Unlike Mumbai University our college has admission entrance test and it is mandatory too. So, admissions are not easy here by any means. Peach of a thing is required to get admission here. Even for B.Com where there are just 150 seats on merit, nearly 30k students apply.

Faculty

5

This part is something where people can be critical but not me as in my books faculties here takes great care. In a class where there are 70+ students knowing names of everyone is not an easy thing and yet our faculties knows that. To me this deal is bigger than that they something do things which are partiality but everyone favours their favourite. So instead of complaining become the favourites.

Night Life

5

Gym is inside the college and so are so many cafes. During college hours I don't know if I have ever stepped out for basic necessities. Everything from photostats to hunger everything is inside the campus.

Placement Experience:

At TCSC placements are quite good as anyone. Even the SOBO colleges and Mithibai don't have placements as good as us. So this is why I always dreamt of studying here because since last 6-7 years, Thakur College placements have gone better and higher.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The B.com is not a very comprehensive and complex degree to complete for someone who wants to pursue his/her career in finance. It can be referred as an initial start or push start for one's finance journey over the years. Also the relevance of B.com in real world is gradually decreasing day by day.

Remarks:

The good thing is that the college was not strict and was never forcing us to study rather it was seeing to it that it gave us proper advice and help us reach more towards my career goal. The bad part would be there were may staff which was very dull and was not kind, and no importance was given to correct their behaviour although it was evident by all.
