- Gargi one of the oldest college of the Delhi University stil has those 3 blocks which were operational since it's inception are so heart warming to see.
- Most DU colleges aren't clean but ours is arguably the cleanest of them all.
- Our course may sound basic but professionalism has been infused in our course and that is why placements for B.Com which is otherwise slim to none in other colleges but at Gargi it's close to 50%.
Dislikes
- There's favouritism in many of the societies and therefore it becomes difficult to find a place in societies of our choices.
Course Curriculum Overview
B.Com is the best and the oldest cours introduced by DU and I like the old edition things. Our curriculum may not be enough to teach us all aspects of banking accounting or economics but electives of special subjects are there and this has made things clearer for us. The only change I want is that library still has old edition books and that needs to be updated.
Placement Experience
Since our professors are of banking backgrounds they have managed to bring in a lot of companies from the same sector. From domestic banks like the Indusind Bank and the Federal Bank, American Express too have made way to our college and B.Com studnets are their first choice. The placements percentage collectively of last three years stande at 40-50%.
Fees and Financial Aid
For my B.Com program the fees is around 18k a year. I am from a general category and so I had to pay the full fees but SC/ST students have their scholarships ranging from 40-50%. Students who are from economic weaker sections of the society, even gets 100% or should I say have to pay nothing apart from the small charges such as library fee and orientation fees.
Campus Life
Gargi College has nearly 30 odd societies and our annual fest Reverie is always covered by the media houses as it is that popular. We have a huge canteen and a Nescafe Coffee shop. The campus is built in 13 acres and has a range of facilities for sports lovers. Two tennis courts, a cricket ground and an indoor hall for Aerobics and Yoga.
Admission
In DU CUET is mandatory and the cutoff for my course at Gargi was 710. My score didn't let me enter my first choice college which was LSR. So, it's fair to say that I got rejection from LSR but Gargi too is among the elite colleges of DU. Admission process is central here as cut-offs for each college is our and accordingly we have to apply as per our scores.
Faculty
Faculties are in short if I have to say are magic top and their skills level are incredible. Though our course is 90% theory, our professors have made it more of a practical things. Some of the professors do have a banking background and therefore how the financial markets operates in India, is something which they have taught us out of the syllabus.
