Dislikes
- The election time is a very bad time as there is a lot of nuisance in college campus and because of elections students are not able to study.
- There are no air conditioned classrooms in college which is a big demerit during summers.
- The lab equipmet needs improvement and they are also less in number as compared to the no of students.
Course Curriculum Overview
The reason I chose this course is its practical applications in the real life world. Its not a theoretical course but a practical oriented one. So it will prepare to get industry ready. The curriculum focuses both on theory and practicals so it is well defined however there should be more laboratory classes per week. Exams occur once in 6 months but class tests occur like every month and the score in these class tests is counted for the final result.
Internships Opportunities
The internship are usually provided by the college and university . There are no private internships. There is a vice chancellor internship scheme which helps students to gain exponential learning . There is also a summer internship program which gives a stipend of Rs.10500 per month for working 20 hours a week.
Placement Experience
The campus placements are decent. Mainly students of commerce courses like B.Com. get good placement as compared to students of other courses . The average package of the college is around 5.7 LPA while the highest package last year was 19.75 LPA . Students in 6th semester become eligible for placement. There are 1755 students enrolled in Under Graduate courses but only 74 of them got placed in the year 2023. The top companies that gave placement were Deloitte , Mother Dairy , Walmart , EY , Wipro , Morgan Stanley , Accenture , PwC and De Shaw & Co. My plans after getting degree is to go for Masters.
Fees and Financial Aid
The yearwise fees that I paid for my course i.e. B.Sc. Physical Sciences with Electronics is Rs.16613 . I belong to General category so I did not receive any concession. I am currently in first year so the amount that I mentioned earlier is the fees for first year of my course and it is the same for all students belonging to SC,ST,OBC,EWS,CW . For PwD students the fees for this course is Rs.125 . In second year the fees that I will ne paying will be Rs.15758 and this is the fees that all students belonging to General , OBC , EWS , SC , ST , CW category will have to pay. The fees will be Rs.120 for PwD students for second year. For third year also the fees will be same i.e. Rs.15758 for all categories except PwD . For PwD the fees will be again Rs.120 . So this is the fee structure for the course B.Sc. Physical Sciences with Electronics. And this is the one time fees that we have to pay each year so it consists all lab charges , caution charges , registration charges , development charges , admission charges. All my coursemates pay the same fees as me as there is no one in my class belonging to PwD category. The scholarship is based on annual income . If annual family income is less than 600000 the student will receive 25% scholarship , if annual family income is less than 400000 the student will receive 50% scholarship , if annual income is less than 200000 the student will receive 75% scholarship , if annual family income is less than 100000 the student will receive 100% scholarship.
Campus Life
Campus life at Ramjas College is vibrant . You get to meet new poeple every day . People from all states of India are present here. Even foreign students study here. For joining clubs you have to go through a selection process. Its not very easy to get into any club. For getting books from the library it is very easy. There are many books available in the library . You just need a library card to get books issued to you. All classes have projectors which are used by teachers to enhance learning. There are all the outdoor sports facilities available in college like football , cricket, basketball, bolleyball , badminton.
Admission
I chose this college because of its alumni network . Ramjas college is one of the oldest colleges of Delhi University. It has it's own legacy. It is famous for studies as well as sports. There have been many Olympic athletes that studied in this college as well as many scholars, scientists , civil servants who are alumnus of this college. The process of admission to this college is as follows , first you need to appear for CUET exam and then apply for CSAS counselling. In CSAS counselling you will have to make a preference sheet choosing what course you want in which college. You will get allotted a seat bases on your merit score and if you are lucky you will get admission into Ramjas College.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio at Ramjas College is 1:15 which is pretty good. The relationship between faculty and students is pretty good especially in theory classes. But in laboratory the lab teachers aren't really helpful. They expect us to know the experiment that we are going to perform beforehand. This causes a lot of problems for us as we need to watch the experiment on YouTube to perform it and we make a lot of mistakes while doing so. The faculty I like the most if Rekhna Dhiman Ma'am from Physics department. She teaches us Mechanics. She is very cool during class. She asks each and every student if they have any doubt or not . She makes us practice questions in class. She also provides us with practise questions so we do not have to surf the internet to find them. The faculty that I didn't like is Pawan Kumar sir only because he extends 1 hour class into a 4 hours long class that too on saturday. The exams are not very difficult but not easy as well so students are able to pass these exams if they even study 1 month prior to the exam. But still there are students who fail as they dont even study at all . It's like almost 8 in 100 students fail in each semester.
