What Students Say
Likes
- Campus size and environment is great. We have a big campus full of trees and a big academic block with ample space for classrooms.
- Faculty is well experienced and arguably the best in their fields.
- Course curriculum is great, especially for students preparing for exams like UPSC or SSC.
Dislikes
- The canteen is in shambles and is rather unhygienic, with a lack of seating space and menu variety.
- Political environment during Delhi University Student Elections - Ramjas College is famous for that.
- Very low amount of seats for hostels, especially for girls.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is good and is up to date with the latest norms. It is not very difficult if the student regularly attends classes and studies well. Professors are helpful and attend to students outside of the class as well.
Internships Opportunities
The placement cell offers internships to candidates and helps them build their CVs to be suitable for internships and placements. Internships can vary from being in NGOs to big companies and it is recommended for all students to work in such programs and internships. Intern positions are usually around sales, research, etc. The college has a very active Placement Cell called PINACLE. Students can even join societies like The Ramjas Consulting Society which gives us a chance at experimenting with the field of consulting as well.
Placement Experience
Placements are usually mostly for the Commerce departments and Economics sometimes. Most students from the Science and Humanities, Arts Social Sciences departments prefer to continue their studies or prepare for competitive exams. Many students prepare for UPSC, CA, SSC and CAT while studying. The average package is somewhere around 5 to 7 LPA. The college has multiple societies like the placement cell and consulting society and the civil services society which aids students in such matters.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee is around 15,000 INR per year for my course (including all fees like lab, fest, library etc.) The fee is the same for students of all categories except the students of Persons with Disability quota (PwD Category) for whom it is 125 INR in the first year and 120 INR subsequently.
Campus Life
Multiple events and fests happen in Ramjas College, and being a part of the North Campus of DU, popular festivals like Mecca of Hindu College are near. Multiple cultural events keep happening throughout the year as well. There are more than 15 active clubs in the college (cultural and non-cultural included) and the campus life is very happening. This also helps students boost their extracurriculars. There is a gym on the campus that is completely free for all students and built well. We also have a large sports complex and multiple indoor and outdoor grounds and courts for players. The library is very large and has multiple books, e-books, reference materials and newspapers available. It is also air conditioned.
Admission
I had applied to colleges like Christ University [ BA (Hons.) Political Science, BA (Hons./Hons. with Research) History, Political Science (with minor in Economics), MAHE, Bengaluru (BA Media Studies and Communication), Somaiya Vidyavihar University (BA Journalism and Mass Communication), Mithibai College (Bachelor of Arts), Wilson College (BAMMC), St. Xavier's College, Mumbai (Bachelor of Arts), Woxsen University (BA (Hons.) and got in everywhere. However, due to better coursework and reputation, I had prioritised the University of Delhi for my undergraduate degree in Political Science. Being situated in the capital also gives it an edge over other cities for the degree. To gain admission to Ramjas College, one needs to apply to the University of Delhi Common Seat Allocation System with their CUET scores. CUET is the only accepted examination.
Faculty
The faculty at Ramjas College is great. Lectures happen regularly and timely unit tests and assignments are taken. The student-teacher ratio depends on the course and is a bit disproportionate for popular courses like Political Science, B.Com, etc. The syllabus is great and easy to study with relevant readings and materials.
Other Applied Colleges
Manipal Academy of Higher Education - [MAHE] | Bachelor of Arts [BA] (Media and Communication)
Preferred University of Delhi over this.
