What Students Say
Likes
- Faculties are well educated knowledgeable and dedicated foe their work.
- College life of students is also good here in compare to many other NITs. New hostels are very good for living and college is working continuously to improve their infrastructure.
- Here a dedicated placement cell is working for the betterment of students and helping students to get placement and internships easily.
Dislikes
- Students are overburden here because of strict attendance criteria 80%, and professors are very strict to follow this. Students are getting very less time to work on other things or to prepare for other exams.
- Coding culture is also not up to the mark. If anyone from other than CSE/ECE wants to do coding then he/she have to put a lot of extra efforts on his/her own.
- Whole campus is scattered few hostels is outside the main campus playground is also away, students is getting difficulty to come to class.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chhose Civil Engineering because i was interested in that and also i got this on my JEE rank. I want to go for civil cervices prepration so I preperred to choose this branch. This carriculam helping students for real world but internship is very necessaru to get real experience of real world. Frequency of exam is little bit higher and difficulty level is moderate.
Internships Opportunities
Every year companies like TATA, VISA, etc. visiting NITC for offering interships to students and a lot of students are getting selected with stipend upto 1 lakh/month. Project is also one of the major portion of B.Tech programm and proffesors are dedicated to take patent every year and working hard for that.
Placement Experience
After 7th semester onward students become eligible for campus placement. More than 150 companies visit every year for internships and placements and more than 1500 students are getting placed including B.Tech and M.Tech. Average pakage vary between 8 to 15 lakh depends upon branch and highest salary is aroung 60 lakh. around 85% students are getting placed. I will pre[are for civil service exam after getting degree.

Hostel fess is around 15000 per semester and 9000 at the time of registration. Scholarship facility is good here most of the students are getting scholarship like NSP, Relience Foundation scholarship, etc.
Campus Life
Ragam is the cultural festival of NITC held in month of March every year. Tathva is the technical fest of NITC held in month of October every year. Libary of NITC called as central library which is huge. NITC is participating in all the sports of All India Inter NIT Compitions. here seperate playground is available for every sports. Inter department tournament is also happening every year. Here a lot of clubs is running.
Hostel Facilities
In 1st year in each room 3 students and in 2nd & 3rd year two students each room and single room for 1st year students. Only bed is provoded by the institute. Mess is so many so students have liability to choose any mess. quality of food is not bad. Registration process is very easy you need to just pay the amount.
Admission
I got Confirm admmision in Colleges like NIT Agartalla, NIT Patna, Shibpur, but I choose NIT Calicut because of better ranking and wanted to study in south India. Admission process is very easy anyone can enter here by Jossa counselling or CSAB councelling. Eligibility is same as it is for other NITs. Students have to pass JEE Mains exam to get it with good rank.
Faculty
Factulty -to-student ratio is balance. Few faculty members are very friendly helping kind and easy to approch but many of the remaining faculty is very strict and approching them is not easy. Marking scheme is 50 msrks foe End semester exam, 30 marks for mid semester exam and 20 marks for assignments or class tests. Exam is very strict here any type of mal-practice is almost impossible and if you get caught while doing this then you will face a worst punishment like semester back or year back of subject back or suspension from the institute.
Interview Experience
No GD or interview for admission process direct admission is provided on the basis of jee rank and JOSAA Councelling or CSAB (Special round councelling). It's very simple for councelling we need to submit our choices for college in decreasing order. Then automatically they allot college and branch according to rank.
