Remarks
Jadavpur University has the best social life.. best faculties..one of the best placements and job opportunities..one of the strongest alumni network..in short.. it's the best place to explore life.. even some are in the University for the last 25 yrs.. they did their BE from the University..then they did their ME and PhD also from the same University and now they have become teachers in the same University.. So this is bond of the students with Jadavpur University..
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum is good..but not upto the mark..it needs to be made more modern..I understand that basics need to be cleared at first..but some things that we are taught are of no use in the practical field..
Placement Experience
The placement scenario here is one of the best in the country..in fact Jadavpur University is famous for the placements occuring here.. Almost every renowned company be it's PWC, Qualcomm, Maruti Suzuki, Amazon, Uber etc. come in the placement season.. I am not so sure about the internship part because I am in the 2nd year myself..so I don't know much about that part..
College Events
Events are plenty..The annual tech fest is Srijan, the freshers program where we welcome the first years is U-Turn..The annual cultural fest is Sanskriti.. The annual sports event is Arena..and not only that..every department also has its own fest..like in Metallurgy we have Metallix..
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is one of the lowest in the country I guess.. because it's less than 10000 in 4 years collectively.. precisely it's 2400 per year.. I have not opted for hostel..but I have heard that per bed charge is Rs. 15 only.. One cannot even imagine getting a BE degree from such a renowned college..
Fees and Financial Aid
I haven't availed any of th scholarship programs..but I know of a scholarship program for the poor candidates..and also for the students admitted in quota.. and it also has a scholarship program for the students with any kind of disability as far as I know.
Campus Life
The labs are not that great as they are old..but the equipments available in the lab are very good..I think they are replaced time to time.. that's why they are really good.. In sports, Jadavpur University is very active.. There are separate clubs for each extra curricular activities such as the Jadavpur University Music Club, Jadavpur University Debating Society, Jadavpur University Drama Club and many more..and each of them are very active.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni network is really strong and most importantly they are very kind and very much helpful.. They visit their alma mater regularly and they are very supportive to the advancement of the department..
Admission
There is a entrance examination for the admission..which is called the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination or the WBJEE..the top rank holders in the examination get admission here.. Jadavpur University is the 12th ranked college as per the MHRD as far as engineering is concerned.. I had a rank of 1615.. So I got the branch of Metallurgy.. So the process is after the declaration of results there is a online choice locking round..in which we select the Colleges and branches that we want.. then as per the rank a particular college and branch is given to us which is called counselling..there are 3 rounds of counselling..in each round if there are seats left vacant then the college or the branch may get upgraded..so we hope for the best..and then after all the 3 rounds there is a date given in which we can go to the college and take admission..
Faculty
Faculties are top notch..no doubt in that.. every faculty is very different..and very much knowledgeable in their fields of study.. some are strict..some are really friendly.. but when it comes to knowledge and the ability to teach they are one of the best..
