Course Curriculum Overview

4

I choose Computer Science because I was curious to learn this subject. The curriculum prepares me well for real world applications as there are practical applications of the subjects in software engineering domain which can be used to Solve many real world problems. Some of the subjects are not relevant according to the current trend which should be removed from the curriculum. There are two exams: Midsems and endsems . Midsems are taken between the semester and then Endsems are taken in the end of the semester. The difficulty level of these exams are average. If one has prepared well enough then exams are easy for them.

Internships Opportunities

4

College also provides internship opportunities to the students in 5th semester. College has a dedicated internship cell for that purpose. Big companies like Google Microsoft Goldman Sachs Cisco visit for the internship. There are different rounds after which a student is being selected for the internship. Mostly the students have to clear the Online assessment round , Group discussion round, technical round, HR round.

Placement Experience

4

The campus placement of the college is quite decent. Students are eligible for the campus placement from 7th semester onwards. Big companies like Google, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Cisco, J P Morgan etc visit the campus. Last year the Highest placement offered was 52 lpa and the average of the circuital branches was 11.5 lpa and for non- circuital it was 8.5 lpa. Overall the placement percentage of the last year batch was around 81 percent.

Fees and Financial Aid

The tuition fee for the course is ?1,25,000 per year, and it is subject to increase over time. The hostel fee is ?4,000 per semester, and the mess charge is ?24,000 per semester, both of which may also increase in the future. However, there are provisions for fee remission for SC/ST students and students whose family income is below ?1 lakh per annum, making education more affordable for economically weaker sections. Overall, while the fees might feel steep, especially with the possibility of future hikes, the support for underprivileged students is commendable. The hostel and mess charges are relatively reasonable, but an increase in these could pose financial challenges for some students. Some of the scholarships available for the students are: NSP , FFE etc. NSP Eligibility: Students from SC/St, OBC, Minorities, Ews with family income below specified limits are eligible. Amount: Varies depending on the scheme but generally covers tuition fee and provides maintenance allowances

Campus Life

4.5

Campus life is quite happening. There are mainly two fests which take place every year. First one is the cultural fest moksha and the second is tech fest Aayam. There are lots and lots of books and journals available in the library from almost every domain. Our college has the largest sports complex amongst all the IITS and NITS. The name of our Sports complex is Atal Bihari Vajpayee sports complex which provides the students with best sports facilities. Also there are different clubs for different -different activities which is good for the overall development of a student.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Hostel facility is quite decent in our college. In the first two years students are allotted two seater rooms. And from third year onwards they are being allotted single rooms. Registration process of the hostel is smooth which is done at the starting of the semester.

Admission

I choose this college because I wanted the Computer Science branch and accordingly the best available option for me was this college only. I didn't apply to other colleges as I had made my mind to apply for this college according to my rank. The admission is taken through Your JEE MAIN ranks. The admission is taken through Josaa and Csab counseling. In the counseling the students are allotted branches according to their ranks & Choice fillings. After that students have to verify their documents physically after which they are being admitted in the college.

Faculty

3.5

All the faculty members of the college are quite learned in their fields. But some of them are not very good at delivering the knowledge. Most of the times their lectures are very boring. But some of the faculty members are quite brilliant in delivering the lectures. They are quite enthusiastic about teaching. For the first year students syllabus is same irrespective of the branch and there are two exams midsems and endsems. From 2nd year onwards students are divided according to their disciplines. There are also some labs each semester which has a practical exam and a viva at the end of the semester.

Placements in NIT Agartala are actually decent, especially for the top branches like CSE, IT, ECE, Mechanical, and Electrical. Every year many companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, L&T, Capgemini, Deloitte, Microsoft, etc. visit the campus. The average package is around 7–8 LPA for CSE/ECE, while core branches get slightly lower, and the highest goes up to 40+ LPA in some years. For other branches like Civil, Chemical, and Production, the placements are a bit lower, but students still manage through campus plus off-campus drives. What I like is that the placement cell is active, and we also get internship opportunities in our 3rd year which help us prepare.
