Remarks
I love my college. I don't think I would've liked any college better. This college has given me amazing experiences and of course, amazing, wonderful friends. Yes, sometimes everything can get a little overwhelming (we have to do everything at once - exams, tests, festivals, projects, language and dance classes (for me) ) and yes, if you live far, then traveling can be tiring, but you'll get used to it.
Course Curriculum Overview
Being an Autonomous college, the degree course of this college is beyond amazing. The professors are all amazing (at least the ones whose classes I attend). Exams - For Junior college, we have unit tests and then a final exam. For Senior college, we have 6 semesters (for BA and BSc) wherein we have two assessments for 20 marks (every subject) through which we get marks out of 20+20=40 and one end semester exam (60 marks) for every semester.
Placement Experience
Yes, but I haven't done any internship as of now. The placements provided are really good. You may visit the placement cell of our college to find out more about the companies that come to our college every year
College Events
1. Malhar - our greatest and most favorite festival. It's known to be the biggest and oldest festival in the whole of Asia! 2. Lingua - our annual language festival. This is where the best actors, etc get the chance to shine. 3. Janfest - our music Festival. We invite India's most celebrated classical singers, classical dancers, etc. 4. Volantus - Junior college festival. 5. Antarchakshu - a fest for the visually challenged, specially abled, etc. We have an endless list of smaller festivals. We always have some or the other fest going on. There isn't one day when there isn't a talk, or a workshop, or a fest going on in some part of the college.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Very low. Since it is a government aided college, we pay a very low fee. There are also concessions available for girls whose parents have resided in Maharashtra for 15+ years (or some similar eligibility criteria, I can't recall it right now).
Fees and Financial Aid
I am unaware of the scholarships that the college offers but the college is always ready to help those who cannot afford to pay for workshops, conferences, etc. We are asked to approach the subject department if we cannot afford to pay for a certain subject-related workshop, etc.
Campus Life
I don't think any college offers as much exposure as St. Xavier's college does. If you're an athlete/sportsperson, the college will inform you about various events that you can take part in. The labs are good, I know even though I'm not a science student. We have a gymkhana, a basketball/football ground (the quad) and a volleyball court on campus.
Alumni/Alumna
The seniors here are super helpful. Being an FYBA student, I have asked doubts to a lot of my seniors (sometimes very stupid doubts, I now realize) and they'd help me out without any hesitation. If you Google "alumni list of St. Xavier's, Mumbai" you'll see the amazing people that this college has produced. They visit our college every now and then for various purposes such as to give talks, etc.
Faculty
The faculty is really good. Most professors teach really well. They have really good knowledge of the subject (obviously!) and they make classes very interactive. We feel compelled to bring out the best versions of ourselves during their classes.
