What Students Say
Likes
- The campus has many student run clubs and societies which one can be part of there are groups like social service league, world performing arts, fincell etc. where one can be part of it and learn and express ones intrest
- The college has many events happening hence the college life never feels dull as we can be part of the event and engage by ether participating or being in the organising side
- The faculty are easy to approach and they help with everything including placement and how cv should be made and even intrested to go for further studies they help in identifying our strengths and weakness and help to work on them
Dislikes
- The college has mandatory ecc points where one has to participate in a lot of events and each events gives 5 to 10 points each and we have to get a quota of 60min other wise passing certificate wouldn't be given
- It has mandatory attendance of 75% and social service hours of 120 which is not a lot coupled with college work it gets tiring and too hard to keep up with the work and can get exhausting for students
- The canteen is nice but not hygienic and every food that they serve taste the same there is no differentiators between the food and the message remains very crowded during the break timings
Course Curriculum Overview
The BMS curriculum is also know as a mini MBA mostly students from my class go for consultancy in financial firms the subjects are very relavents and the teaching faculty does prepare one extremely well through project works and case study we have subjects like economics, business law, international business etc. which help us learn more about the business world and we have guest and alumini who are working in the respective fields come to college and share their experiences, and recently college has subscribed to Harvard case studies to up their game , the things that can be improved as more real project work than class as we learned more during project work than class and the teaching could be more engaging in-class rather than we approaching after class with doubts and questions as for the exams it is easy and with effort it's easy to score marks as there not too much burden in the syllabus
Placement Experience
There is a placement cell in the college which looks after student internship and placements students can apply for internships from the 2nd year of their course onwards as for placemts they can apply in their last year, but to apply for placement students have to pay a fee of 1500rs to be added in the group for placement from where they can apply, almost 60 % of students are placed from the college getting average lpa around 600000 and many companies such as Bane, McKinsey, Morgan Stanley,Zomato etc come for placement and as well as internship many of my friends have recived and PPO as well after doing their Internship In their 2nd year as welli personally plan to go for further studies abroad after college to gain more experience and explore career as I still have to decided on what I want to do so the best cou8would be for me to go explore and get a wider perceptive
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee is collected at beginning of each year of the course and each year the fee is increasing our third year fee was 52000 which was an increase due to adopting NEP policy initially it was supposed to be 32000 only, there are financial aid and scholarships that are available to students to avail them one has submit the required documents in the admissions department and avail for the concession, there are scholarship given for academic excellence, sports etc..and usually it is given in form of cash at end of the term. There NRI seats and management seats as well in our course where the fee structure usually is higher than normal and ranges between 3-6 lakhs per year
Campus Life
There are many fest in the college such as malhar,Jan fest, Indian musical fest, business conference, ammod etc.. malhar is held in the month of August and rest of the fest stars from nov and go on till Feb ,as for the infrastructure the campus has good canteen ,two library one lending and other refrence library and there is huge collection of books where one can use to learn and refer and for sports college has sports like basketball , volleyball , hockey , and other sports we also have an annual sports competition as well for students to participate and there are many clubs and societies and most of them are run by the students themselves only where every year the application form opens from which one can apply and be part of the club's we have clubs like students council, social service league, world performing arts etc.. and many more
Hostel Facilities
I stayed in a hostel suggested by college as college hostel was full as it only has limited vacancy my hostel name was seva niketan in Nagpada the rent was 9000rs per month there were no meal provided from the hostel but there were many restaurants close by the hostel and it was chepa and the quality was good as well ,the hostel seva niketan has an entire floor decidated to providing hostel for Xavier's students only as it has some time up with St Xavier's college and for the registration process we have to go to the hostel with required documents such as aadhar card , college ID , fee receipt etc and register inthe hostel
Admission
I choose Xavier's because the BMS course it offers is one of the best and is very affordable as well , I was comparing Xavier's with christ, nmis etc. the BMS course offered in their college is extremely expensive and not as reputed as Xavier's and the placements that they offers is not good as Xavier's as well,Xavier's also has a good alumini and good word of mouth than these colleges, as for the admission into courses like BMS ,BMM,BSC-IT there is an entrance test called XAT and we have to clearit, the weightage is 60% score form the entrance test 40% from board exam scores and the final round will be an interview after which it is decided if one is selected for the course or not there is a reservation for Christan quota in the college as it is an Jesuits run college
Faculty
The faculty in our college is very good actually most of them have phds and have done notable work in their teaching department and we also have visiting faculty for specific subjects such as rural markets , business law etc. and the student teacher relationship is also very good as we can approach our HOD anytime with any help that we may need.As for the exams we have 3 exams per semester CIA1&2 and end sem exam the CIA exams are scored out of 20 each and end sem exam out of 60 the total being 100 marks combined of CIA and end sem exam we need a total of 40 to pass, usually the CIA2 exam is presentation or group project and CIA1 a d end sem being exams in case one fails to obtain 40 marks combing all they have to write the additional exam by paying 500rs at the end of the next sem exam and the subject are not hard per say but one needs to put effort to learn there are many resources available one can use to learn from the college
Other Applied Colleges
Christ University | Bachelor of Business Administration [BBA] (Finance and International Business)
I didn't opt for Christ University as st.xaviers ranks much better than of Christ in terms of reputation as well as placement, faculty and affordability as well ,The BMS course of Xavier's is one of the best courses in India ranking 2nd only to Delhi Univ
