Course Curriculum Overview
The course is Bcom Honours. It is desired by those who want to pursue their careers in accountancy or finance. In my opinion, the course is quite comprehensive. Various branches of accountancy arr taught within the course like Financial Accounting, Corporate Accounting, Cost Accounting, Management Accounting.Tax and law are also covered. With regards to the practical implications, I feel there is some issues there and that is why, most of the students pursuing Bcom Honours often go ahead with CA/CFA simultaneously to expand their knowledge. Students also resort to internships to get the practical exposure. Definitely on the practice side, the course needs some improvement but all in all, it is a nice course if you want to take a gist of the world of Chartered accountants or Company Secretaries.
Internships Opportunities
Internship opportunities are routed through the placement cell of SRCC. Major roles that are offered are finance, consulting and strategy. Major companies that visit the campus are L.E.K Consulting, Partners Group, Hindustan Unilever, Raam Group, DBS etc. The internship opportunities are generally for a period of 2 months and the opportunities are provided during the summer break provided by University of Delhi.
Placement Experience
The placement cell of SRCC offers both internships and placement opportunities. While the second year students (3rd semester and 4th semester) are allowed to take part in the internship opportunities, the 3rd year students (5th semester and 6th semester) are allowed to compete in the placement process. The notable companies that visit campus are Deutsche Bank, Hindustan Unilever, Bank of America, D.E Shaw, Nomura, Faber Capital, BCG and much more. Last year, more than 500 offers were made for job opportunities while 120+ offers were made for internship opportunities. Highest package was 35 LPA while the average package was 8+LPA.I am pursuing CA and SRCC provides CA articleship opportunities as well and I plan to secure one such opportunity.
Fees and Financial Aid
The yearly fees of this college for general students is Rs 30000 approximately. For other categories it is a little less ranging between 25000-30000 but for PWD students, the fees is very less i.e Rs 100 approximately. The fees fluctuates a little every year hence please take a range of 2000-5000 yearly. Various scholarships are provided. The scholarships are divided into three categories: Merit based, Merit cum need basis, Need basis. All the scholarships depend upon your performance in exams as well as the interviews conducted by a very competent panel. Scholarships include: Mitsubishi UFJ by Bank of Tokyo, Dr. Charatram Memorial Scholarship, Graduate Jubilee scholarship, Student Union Scholarship, Parshuram Scholarship and much more. Need based assistance for needy students is also available.
Campus Life
The campus life of SRCC is very mesmerizing. You will get to see a lot of stars visiting commonly your college and ofcourse a lot of crowd surrounding the college to get an entry to meet those celebrities. The annual fest of SRCC is Crossroads which was ranked 2nd after IIT Bombay fest in 2018, the last time Crossroads was conducted by a competent student union. There are various clubs and societies which you can choose to become a part of depending upon your interests for example book club for avid readers, Finance and Investment Cell for finance enthisiasts , D-street for stock market lovers etc. The recruitment in these clubs is dependent upon your performance in the Group Discussions and the personal interviews conducted by the respective cells. Library is fully stocked and the books can be accessed through your id card for a period of 15 days and then they need to be returned before checking them out again in order to avoid any fines charged for delay.
Admission
I got admission on the basis of Central University entrance test. The process was done by NTA but the process wasn't smooth. There were some issues in the exam.I akso got selected by Christ University, IP University and Chandigarh University. My reason of choosing SRCC over any other colleges mentioned by mr is pretty simple. SRCC is a dream college of most of the commerce students and so was the case with me. Getting admitted into SRCC was my dream come true and it wasn't difficult for me to choose from the pool of colleges which selected me. My grades in Class 12th and CUET and IPUCET were good and hence, I was selected by every college I applied to. The cutoff for the CUET in ky admission year was 782/800 for the General Category for Bcom Honours course. The only exam accepted to enter SRCC is CUET.
Faculty
The course is divided into 4 years in which the 4th year is voluntary to be opted for.Every year is divided into 2 semesters thus leading to 8 semesters in which 6 are compulsory while the latter 2 are voluntary. In every semester there are 7 subjects. 3 subjects are Discipline specific subjects of which you will get no option, one would be General Elective from the Department of Maths or Economics or English or EVS, which you can choose on the basis of your wishes. One is Ability Enhancement course that would either be EVS or a language (Hindi is offered in SRCC as language). One is value added course and another is a skill enhancement course which you can decide voluntary which one to take. The faculties of SRCC are amazing. My favourite ones had been Anuj Jatav sir, Manpreet mam, Kinneri Mam, Poonam mam. They all have been quite supportive and their methods of teaching are fabulous. It is like you need not study a topic again if you paid adequate attention in their class.
