Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Being honest, i didn't chose this course by my will, i just got this corse in the du csas system and i took this opportunity. Meanwhile, the course is pretty good to learn and improve skillset. As the new NEP is also there so students get many choices to study in different fields at the same time. However, some areas like DUTA strike management, election management, sports items handing over, lab equipments are in an urgent need to be improved. According to the difficulty of exams, frequency of exams is not such depressing, it is easy to clear also if u just study one week ago.

Internships Opportunities

4

Companeis like Tata1mg, Delhivery, GoFrutto and also government internships are offered in the college with an average stipend of 15-20k and posts like design interns, operations intern, research & development intern, customer marketing are offered

Placement Experience

3.5

After 5th semester, students become eligible for campus placements. Average campus placement is around 5 to 8 lpa. Some high profile MNCs like Deloitte has visited & made offers to the students. Around 70 to 80% students get placements.

Fees and Financial Aid

The annual fee charge for particularly my course (B.Sc. Physical Sciences with Computer Science) was around 17k last year (i.e., my 1st year) but this year (2nd year) it was around 18k including all type of charges like library, canteen etc.

Campus Life

5

As we all know, DU is well known for its fests and events. College societies hosts many events in which they invite many special guests from tech fields and defence field too. Last year Ajay Hooda was invited to the college in the annual fest of ARSD i.e., Tide. It was complete fun. Library has a vast availability of books, one can find all type of books he wish to read in there Nearly all classes are equipped with projectors, yet ACs are not installed in classes. Every year trials of sports takes place in the college for selecting the team, recently badminton trials and table tennis trials took place. College societies are run by students, here even course departments have their own societies, in order to be a part of college societies students have to compromise with their class interaction many times.

Admission

One major thing which makes this college different than others is it's NIRF rank which attracts every new student who wishes to take admission in a high profile and highly popular colleges. I had apllied in many colleges of the Delhi University, i got admission in Rajdhani Office in the first round of CSAS allocation, but in the second round i got ARSD college, in which i am studying right now, this college is way much better than the previous one in every aspects, whether it is the canteen area, sports area, infrastructure, faculty or anything, so i took this college instead of Rajdhani. I didn't get admission in other top colleges of north campus of Delhi University such as Hindu, Stephens, SRCC, because of my CUET marks, being honest, reservation helped me. To take admission in my college one needs to give the CUET exam also in which the selection of course combination Physics, Chemistry, Maths, General Knowledge and English is compulsory.

Faculty

4.5

I don't know any college where all 6 months of a sem are for studying only. Here, after including cancellation of classes, holidays, strikes, election period, students get a total of around 3 months to study the syllabus of 6 months and in the remaining days exams and practicals are held. However, some teachers like sharad sir, kvs sir, vs dixit sir are gems of a person they teach wery vell. Faculty is approachable no doubt, no such. Co-operative faculty we got. Sem exams are moderate in difficulty level, sometimes the exam paper gets matched with previous year questions a lot. Very less students gets failed to clear the exams.

Indira Gandhi National Open University - [IGNOU], Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Mathematics)
Reviewed on Sep 5, 2025(Enrolled 2024)

Placement Experience:

Placements in IGNOU are quite limited compared to regular universities. Since IGNOU is an open and distance learning university, it does not have a strong campus placement system like DU or private colleges. There is a Campus Placement Cell (CPC) that conducts job fairs and recruitment drives at some regional centers, but these are not very frequent and mostly depend on the location. Usually, students who are in their final year or have completed the course can apply, but there is no fixed semester rule since the system is flexible. The companies that visit are not very large in number and vary every year. Some private firms, NGOs, BPOs, insurance companies, and small IT firms have participated in the past. The roles are generally entry-level such as sales, customer support, data entry, insurance advisor, or junior IT support. There are very limited opportunities for core mathematics or research roles through placements. As far as packages are concerned, the average package is usually around ?2.5 LPA to ?4 LPA, but since IGNOU is an open university, it cannot be expected to have the same placement levels as regular colleges with full-time classes. Also, the percentage of students placed is very small because most IGNOU students are either working professionals, homemakers, or people preparing for competitive exams, so placements are not the main focus. Many students use the degree as a qualification while pursuing their own career path outside. I am currently in my 2nd year, so I do not have personal placement experience yet. The data I have mentioned here is based on internet sources and feedback from other IGNOU students. From what I have learned, placements exist but are very limited, and one should not rely only on them for career building.

The curriculum of my course BSc honours physics is pretty good and it provides sufficient informations in theory classes and practical labs are maintain good and teachers are actively participate in the practicals with the students to teach them more about this course. The frequency of the timing is difficult I can say that because it has many theory classes and on everyday due to which the students can't focus on the subjects and regular activities other than main course.
