Likes
- The university is the only animal cruelty free zone in the entire north east india.
- Campus of TU is really very good and you are going to interact with lots of different students from all over india as well as some international students
- Teaching methods used by the department and centre are really good.
Dislikes
- Some of the buildings does not have a air conditioned room so it becomes a little hot in the summers.
- The course I beleive becomes a little hectic with exams every month as well as with seminars and presentations.
- Placement services are provided by the university but for most of the students they will prefer an off campus placement
Course Curriculum Overview
I was already a lot interested in gender studies so the course of women studies attracted me a lot and I chose this course. The curriculum and the syllabus is very well prepared with the historical sociological aspects and a all round aspect to maintain the worldview of that particular course. The examination level is a bit difficult because of the hectic schedule but once we adjust its not something that is so hard to acquire.
Fees and Financial Aid
We are paying 14k per semester. So for the whole course it will be nearly 50k total. The fee structure of my batchmates are relatively lower those who are studying in a regional university. The NSP provides scholarship on a reservation basis considering the payscale of the parents, so it becomes a little difficult for most of the students to receive a scholarship even for a merit based.
Campus Life
There are colllege fest as well as varsity week and freshers party every year which is a lot loke a festival in the campus. The library is one of the biggest library with a range of good books accessible fo rthe students. There are vatious club including sports, dance ,music film, as well as the animal welfare club etc. Every department has there own smart classroom which is used for the students and a perosnal seminar hall of their own.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels are big. Hostel favility is one of the best including the food, laundry, fridge to keep our eatables. Meal quality is also vwey good. Mess endings are there where it is provided tasty food every month. Students will get hostel accommodation according to a merit basis format.
Admission
I chose a central university over a state university because of the diversified curriculum and a dedicated fulfilled campus which will.provide a life i beleive will be in my favour in the future. We have to take the entrance examination that is the TUEE which happens every happen in the month of june or july. The cutoff depends upon the difficulty level of exams every year.
Faculty
The faculty and students ratio is relatively very good. For my centre there are 4 professor for a total of 30 students and other faculty memwbers so i beleive it to be a really good ratio. Exams are conducted every month along with seminars and presentation, group discussion, webinars etc. The course of woman studies is really relevant , i beleive because gender is a misguided concept in the society and to study it properly in a platform is something thay is really needed
