Assam Medical College, often known as AMC Dibrugarh, is a government medical college established in 1947. It is affiliated with Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences and accredited by the National Medical Commission. Life at AMCH

Likes

The exposure is really good, the daily input of patients is large
The campus is big and it is bigger than most medical colleges.
It is one of the oldest medical college of the county and the oldest medical college of the whole northeast India.

Dislikes

It is located in upper Assam so connectivity becomes an issue for AIQ students
The classroom could have be bigger than the actual size

Student view on course curriculum

This course is not at all easy like all the other courses but since this course deals with life and death situations I would say the practical applications introduction has lead to a better side of this course. This course is completedly real world based curriculum. The faculty members are well equipped to everything they teach and the methods currently focus on application based studies. This course has many exams each month and therefore the student has to study properly.

Internship opportunity provided by the college

It is the normal internship of 1 year for MBBS graduates. Each graduate has to fulfill this in order to officially get the DR. degree. The graduate has to complete this with duties in various departments. It gives the feeling of being a doctor.

Yearly fees structure and scholarship

The yearwise fees is 25900. It is a one time fee. No yearly fees has to be paid. Only other fees like mess fees, lab fees, other fees depending on the college authorities has to be paid. The monthly hostel fee is 3500. At the time of admission an extra 500 had to be paid and hence the initial hostel fee was 4000. Official scholarships are not available but scholarships from the government and other such scholarships by private companies are available. Their monetary value can be variable.

Annual fest and various activity in the campus

The annual fest is called Synapse, typically held around October last and November. The library is highly adequate considering the quality and quantity of books available. Every classroom is a digital classroom. This college is the best for sports and extra curricular activities as this college offers everything a student is good at.

Hostel facilities provided by the college

The hostel room offers a bed, a table chair, an almirah, a balcony and a nearby common toilet. The meal is good and it offers both non veg and veg. The hostel can be achieved at the time of college admission.

Student views on the faculty and exams

The faculty student ratio is good, providing it has the highest number of faculties for each subject in Assam (along with GMCH) They are highly experienced and qualified. They are friendly and we can ask our doubts without any fear. Every department is well organised and the HODs are really good. There are Part Completion Tests, FAs, and importantly 3 internal exams and then the final exams. The course is vast and hence the syllabus is also vast. It's not that easy but passing can be easy if there is regular study.

Eligibility Criteria in the college

This college is - 1) Oldest medical college of the state 2) The best campus 3) Higly reputed doctors passed from here 4) Brilliant extra curricular activities 5) Good sports culture I didn't get rejection from other colleges but yeah some do prefer GMCH over AMCH for a reason - GMCH is situated at a more easily accessible location and the city is highly developed. Other than that this college offers everything else. The way to get admission into this college is via Neet exams. The cutoff for this college remains high and for General category it's 660+/720

Night Life

There are many hangout spots at night like the Cafeteria, the Nescafe spot, the various tea stalls, the parks etc. The gym is situated near the main field and it is a great location to go at night. For 1st year the hostel in time is 6pm and for 2nd year it's 8pm, after 2nd year there are no in times. Overall campus is safe to roam around at night.

DMCH IN MY EYE

Likes

Academics as well as Sports are balanced in a quiet good way. Teachers are enthusiastic in teaching and practising the students at their every best.
The environment of college is damn good. Students give their every best during the final exams and our college rank is improving in the Assam State assembly well as overall in INDIA
The location of the college is at appropriate place as the railway station is just 1.5km from the college.

Dislikes

During the elections of student union members there is partiality among the students on the basis of their culture and religion.

Admission:

I got this college randomly through the All India Quota during my NEET 2022 mop up round Counselling. I applied for most of the Government Colleges in INDIA according to my fees budget. Since I belong to Uttar Pradesh and during counseling I applied for my state government colleges too but you know competition is touching the sky, unfortunately I didn't get any MBBS seat there. But I was fortunate enough to get a seat in Assam through AIQ. The admission procedure is easy we just have to reach the college with our documents and the college have the allotted students list and they match and upload to the site and your admission is done along with academic fees and mess dues for 6 months.

Life at AMCH

Likes

The campus is big and it is bigger than most medical colleges.
The exposure is really good, the daily input of patients is large

Dislikes

The classroom could have be bigger than the actual size
It is located in upper Assam so connectivity becomes an issue for AIQ students

Our AMCH college have been the best and the oldest in Assam after GMCH and have been successfully in doing new treatments. No one is disappointed. I didn't got any rejection from other college but I did liked this college. For the addmission one must crack neet with the cutt off score of this college then he or she have to go through counseling

Punctuality and efficacy. Our institute is one of the top college of pharmacy in Assam due to the dedication, punctuality

Dislikes

There are very less social events due to which the enjoyment is low.
If lacks kab renovations, gadgets, instruments and other stuffs due to which it becomes a bit difficult to conduct some practicals.
The infrastructure of the college is not that impressive.

Admission:

I got admission in some private universities like Kaziranga university, Assam down town University etc. But I applied for this college as it is a government institute which means the fee structure was quite affordable and relevant also since I got admission by cracking the CEE entrance exam for Dpharm. I did apply for Dibrugarh University in bpharm course but as my 12th percentage was only 86%, I didn't get the seat. The admission is through the CEE entrance exam for Dpharm which consists of 150 marks. Biology/ maths- 50 Chemistry - 50 Physics - 50 The cut offs are different for different castes but a minimum of 80 is required to sure the seat. My overall admission experience here was good.

Likes

1st medical college of independent India.
A huge campus widespread in 700 acres of land.
One of the largest medical colleges in North-east India.

Dislikes

There is nothing to be disliked as a student.

Admission:

I wanted to reside in my own state and also wanted a prestigious college. So, this college falls in my first choice and i got admission in the same college. There is totally a different experience and i am sure no one will never forget it.

The campus is beautiful and envionment friendly and near the college there is a bank of Brahmaputra river which gives mesmerizing views

Dislikes

Infrastructure is not so good and some of the instruments in lab are not in working condition

Admission:

Its the oldest pharmacy college in Assam almost 50 year old and its a govt college and its near to my hometown also thats why I choose the college. All faculty members are well experienced and the lab technicians also well experienced in handling the pharmaceutical equipments. And the fees structure is also less as compared to other colleges thats why i choose this one.

My dream medical college

Likes

Laboratories and dissection halls are also very well equipped. Laboratories contains all the facilities and reagents needed.
Most important thing I like about my college is its academics its literally the best. Our lecture halls are very well equipped with smart boards.

Dislikes

Hostels can be improved a bit. Our college is the oldest college of whole northeast so its legacy has to be maintained.
There is nothing to dislike about my college. Its simply the best. But the college canteen can be improved as the food served is not of very good quality.

Admission:

For the eligibility of the course you must have passed class 12 with PCMB/ PCB. And you must have score 50% or more marks in 12th boards. You must have cleared NEET UG exam and scored the minimum marks to get into the college as per your category. Yes there is reservation benefits too as per the category cut off its less as compared to those who are from general category. NEET UG is a 3 hours exam 720 marks (total marks).

We have to apply for the admission through DME,directorate of medical education,assam. To apply we should qualify neet.I have availed obc NCL reservation qouta from 27% reservation policy. Frequency of exam is 15days.

Assam medical College and hospital is one of the medical College in India. It was established in 1947 . It was first introduced under British government by Dr.John Berry White . It has a good campus life. Almost all facilities are available.

Dislikes

This college don't have much for dislikes. But some improvement and modifications are to be done. As it is oldest college so infrastructure are to be renovated.

Admission:

The addmission is done in all India basis. It is done through neet exam. A student need to qualify and get required cutoff marks in this qualification examination. Generally the cutoff of all India is around 620 in this college. And 550+ in state councelling.

As a student I am grateful to have easy access to public transportation services both within the campus and outside at reasonable rates.
The college , being the pioneer of all the medical colleges of the North-east India, has a good repute of its own. It's one of the most prestigious college of the region bringing hopes for the people in the field of medical science.
The second thing that I like about my college is the geographical accessibility. The college is situated in the Dibrugarh district, in the plains of Assam on the banks of the river Brahmaputra.

Admission:

For taking admission, the student must be 12th pass and having a percentage of 75%. The student should qualify in the national NEET examination which happens yearly in the first week of May. The cutoff varies every year. But being one of the top colleges of Assam the cutoff is usually 570+
