Likes

The crowd of the college is very good.There is no ragging of anything of that sort .Seniors are very helpful.
All activities, committees, and fests including Malhar is conducted fully by students.
The curriculum is also very interested depth and the faculty is also very nice.The campus has two libraries both in which we can study.

Dislikes

Placement opportunities are less than what is believed.Even though many companies visit they take only very few people
The campus has a strict dress policy.You have to wear ID cards at all times and sleeveless dress,shorts and everything is not allowed.
The class timings for commerce, especially BCom and BAF is inconvenient.For BAF classes begin at 7 in the morning while BCom is evening college

Course Curriculum Overview

The curriculum goes in depth and is kind of hard.Exams happen frequently that is every month we will have exams one way or the other.There are two CIA s(internal exam) before the final end semester exams.The question pattern is hard and difficult.

Placement Experience

The college does have a functioning placement cell .And many global MNCs like Accenture,Bain and Condo visit but they take only very few applicants.The rest are left to find jobs on their own.Many students choose to go for higher studies also.

Fees and Financial Aid

The yearly tuition fees is 75,000 total.It is to be paid upfront at the beginning.There are not additional fees except for conducting exams.The registeration fees was 500 for BAF.No category separate fee structure as of my knowledge.

Campus Life

The main fest of the college is Malhar.It is conducted completely by the students.Another famous fest is Indian Music Group's Janfest conducted in January.The infrastructure is nice.Sports and extracurriculars is also given importance.

Admission

I had applied for St Xavier's College, Kolkata,Mithibai,Jai Hind College and United Christian College.I got the merit list in all these colleges.I chose St Xavier's Mumbai above them because it has a good reputation and name in the course that I wanted compared to other colleges

Faculty

The faculty for BAF is very nice.Tbe student to teacher ratio is 60 to 1.The faculty is very nice and approachable.The Vice principal is Sanjay Parab sir.He is very approachable and guides you in the right direction for all your queries.The teaching faculty is also friendly.Exams are made very tough.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the BBI course curriculum at Lala Lajpat Rai College as fairly relevant and moderately comprehensive. The focus on finance, banking, and insurance subjects influenced my decision to choose this course. The curriculum gives a good theoretical base and helps in preparing for further studies like MBA, M.Com, or government exams. However, it lacks practical exposure, internships, and industry interaction, which could make it more job-oriented. Teaching methods can also improve by including case studies, field visits, and guest lectures.Exams are held twice a year (semester-wise) and include internals (25 marks) and externals (75 marks). They are moderately difficult manageable with regular studies.

Learning in a fun way

Course Curriculum Overview:

The main thing this college or any other college for that matter should do is host people from different walks of life and ask them to brief the students about whatever great things they know. You should also prepare your students for different life skills. A webinar on how to budget properly, how to invest, how to survive in a jungle etc. The practicals that were given to us held very less value in my opinon. It seemed as if we are just doing the practicals for the sake of it.

Placement Experience:

Talking about campus placement, overall rating is Excellent. Some IT companies like TATA Consulatancy Services, Infosys, Wipro, Sutherland, Eclerx. and banking companies includes ICICI AMC, ICICI Bank Pvt. Ltd., TATA AMC, used to visit college campus to conduct assessment round in college itself. Highest package was around 5 lakh per anum and average package was around 3 lakh per anum. I even got placed in TCS with 4.4 Lakh annual salary. Almost 70% of bachmates was placed with more than average package and there were good opportunity for science background also. After getting degree i worked for 1.5 years and now i'm going to persue my career in management roles.

The fees structure of SYBAF as follows Tution fees -10000,Library fees -600, Laboratory fees -1000, Gymkhana -400,other fees - 250,exam fees- 2606,other Activity fees -4000,E charges -1000 and many other charges are there.

The Vibrant Life at St. Xavier's Mumbai

I applied to IIM Indore, St. Xavier's mumbai, TAPMI Manipal and I had given CET exam to apply for colleges in Mumbai. I did not clear the IPMAT exam as I prepared only for 2 months, so I didn't make it to iim indore. St. Xavier's being one of the top colleges in India was my next choice. I also got into TAPMI Manipal but I chose Xavier's over it as the ROI was better. For admission in Xavier's you've to clear the Xavier's Entrance Test (XET) for BMS, BMM and BSC-IT. Post which you'll get a call if your name is in the merit list. Rest of the process is done in the college itself, where you'll be asked to submit your documents and fill out some forms. The Pros and Cons of the Xavier's Way of Life

In my opinion, the admission process for St. Xavier's College was pretty smooth and the portal worked well when I applied. This was the only college I had applied for, after a while I was thinking of applying to Ramnarain Ruia College and Jai Hind College but then I got accepted in Xavier's so there was no need to apply to the other colleges. The parameters on which they select students was purely based on merit, with a few exceptions for minority quotas. Xavier's has a a larger minority quota for Christian students, as it is a Jesuit institution. The cutoffs range at around 95% for Arts and around 90% for Science....Read More
