Remarks

The college management is great in terms of administration but if there is one thing that can be changed perhaps it would be the lift of clothing rules since a lot of students struggle to keep up with it.

Entrance Preview

The English department of my college is one of the best in the city with them offering not just several aspects of English Language and Literature to the students for study but also the faculty is extremely experienced and able. Besides, they have several seminars which allow the students to enhance their presentation skills.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I feel the course curriculum is fairly balanced since we not just get to study and analyse the different aspects of English Language and Literature over the six semesters but we also have to complete our dissertation in our last semester. The dissertation prepares us for writing papers further in our academic research.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, we do have a placement cell where we need to enroll in the beginning of each year. There are multiple companies from various sectors which offer internships and jobs alike.

Placement Experience

3.5

The placements and the job opportunities are great since we have a placement cell devoted to the purpose. We see multiple companies, big and small alike from various sectors looking for employees. We apply, and then a list is released by the company of who should be present for the GD or the interview.

College Events

5

We celebrate multiple events in our college. Every department has an event of their own and then there are few common events that are managed by the Students union. Some of the events managed by the students are Xavotsav, Xavier's Premier League and so on.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is comparatively feasible for the Arts and Commerce departments but for courses like Mass Communication and Multimedia and Animation the fees are too much for students coming form middle class families. And some of the Science departments too like Biotechnology and Microbiology follow lead.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are some very good scholarships offered by the college, if the student is talented or aces his/her academics, irrespective of their economic background.

Campus Life

5

The campus life is pretty diverse and balanced in terms of gender ratio. There are plenty of extracurricular activities, competitions, debates and so on. Infact, we have a club/society dedicated to each art like we have the Sports Department, Debating Society, The English Academy, The Xaverian Academy of Dance and Music, The Fine Arts Society and so on.

Hostel Facilities

3

Even though I haven't lived in the hostel, from the friends that I've had, the hostel facilities were pretty good with comfortable living space and food. There was however a time deadline by which all students were expected to be back in their hostels.

Alumni/Alumna

The Alumni network is super active and helpful. They too organise multiple events in the college and also lend a helping hand to students in need of help.

Exam Structure

We have the semester system with us being assessed at the end of every semester. Apart from the usual course that we undertake we are also assessed at the end of every semester on a compulsory course that we need to study like EVS, Hindi, Compulsory English.

Admission

We need to upload the marks obtained in our 12th board examinations while filling up the admission form. Subsequently, they release merit lists. There are multiple merit lists depending on the boards that the students come from and also depends largely on the average index number.

Faculty

3.5

The faculty of my department are not just able and extremely experienced but they are also excellent guides. Not just do they make sure we are comfortable in the classrooms but they also ensure that we are able to grasp whatever is taught in the classrooms.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My passion and a bit of curiosity in International Relations led me to choose this course. The curriculum, in fact, prepared me well for further academic pursuits. For improvement, educational excursions and internship opportunities should be made available. The exam is held twice a year on semester basis, with papers set at a moderate to difficult level.

There are limited on campus placement opportunities here, especially for Arts and Eng Hons students. Most students focus on higher studies, competitive exams or off campus opportunities after graduation. The college provides basic guidance through teachers but formal placement drives are rare.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum provides a comprehensive retrospective of literature from the Old English period to Modern period, while also including English works by Indian authors to demonstrate the diversity and evolution of English literature over the years. The current curriculum I believe requires more seminars and lectures from guest faculties on contemporary research and topics.

I love to read English and it's easy for me so that's why I choose it. There are a total of 50 students in this course. Our teachers are very helpful and talented and also support us. We have 2 semesters after 6 months in 1 year. Exams are comfortable for the students who study the subject. It is difficult for those who do not study.
