Remarks

Overall Punjab Engineering College is a very reputed college of North. And yes everything is well managed in college.

Entrance Preview

This is the only engineering college in North which is so old with a very good reputation and some of the stalwart teachers. And Placements statistics are really very good for all the branches. Civil Engineering faculty is good and Civil department has all the labs and instruments. There is also an internship semester of whole 6 months where students experiences the field work along with the industrial designing. Location of college is also in the city. So one can easily reach to the other parts of the city.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

Civil Engineering course is well structured and whole course is divided in to the 8 semesters of 6 months each. 6th Semester is the internship semester where students experiences the real world project. Along with the Civil engineering subjects some subjects of other branches are also included in tbe circulum.

Internships Opportunities

6th Semester is the internship semester where students experiences the real world project. For the civil branch there are some private designing companies that offer the stipend of 8k to 15k.

Placement Experience

3.5

For Computer Science and Electronics students placements are really good. For core branches average package is around 6-7 lakhs. All the good companies visit the campus and every year number of companies increases. For civil branch L&T, Ramboll, Atkins, Maruti Suzuki and some structural consultancy visit the campus every year.

College Events

5

Every branch has their own technical socities. Each society conducts the number of events in a year. And there are also some NGOs in the college which works for the welfare of the society. Pecfest is also organised every year which is the biggest fest of North India.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fees structure is feasible. Around 2lakh has to be paid every year. Hostel and mess establishment fees is too much. Each month around 2500 rs is charged by the mess for the food. And there is no extra charge for internet and all other facilities. Fees is increasing every year.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarships are provided to the first ranker of evert stream and also for Economically backward classes there are also scholarships available.

Campus Life

3.5

Campus life is very interesting. As there is the cultural diversity in the campus so one gets the opportunity to learn many new things at a time. Students are very active in Sports and Extracurricular activities. College sponsored the students for taking part in the events of other colleges.

Hostel Facilities

3

Hostel facilities are not that good. Hostels are very old and also some part of the room gets leaked during the rain. Apart from that hostels have allthe facilities like Tv room and different playing arena. Mess food is also not very good. Variety is too less in food. I would rate it with 6 points out of 10 for food and other facilities.

Alumni/Alumna

Our college has a student and Alumni Relationship Cell which remains in contact with the alumni of the college.

Exam Structure

Mid terms and End terms are conducted in each semester along with the theoretical quizzes and the lab quizzes. Theory has the weightage of 70% and laboratories has 30% weightage. Mid terms exams are conducted as two exams in one day and End terms as one exam in one day.

Admission

I had cleared Jee Mains exam with 182 marks. Then I had separately filled the application form of Punjab Engineering College which was released in mid may or first week of June. There were 3 rounds of counselling and one final spot round was also there. I have been allotted Civil Branch in Spot round Counselling. For Spot round student has to go to the College Physically for all the formalities.

Faculty

3

It depends on the Branches. Overall faculties are good and very cooperative. Teachers are well qualified. Almost all the teacher have done their phds. Teachers also use the projectors to teach the syllabus. Also along with the Theory classes tutorial classes and practical classes are also there.

For improvement in teaching methods, they can go digital, like using smartboards, or use more practical teaching methods, or maybe just improve the way of teaching simply. Teaching methods here really need upgrades, mostly students here have to rely on youtube when exams come near.

Placement Experience:

The placements have been lowered by 10-20% recently, but they are getting better. You will get a job if you manage cgpa above 7 and are decent with your skills, but then don't dream for 20lpa + jobs, you need to work upon yourself in silence to get 25-50 lpa packages and they do happen in our colleges, highest package in electrical 2024-25 was 52 lpa and in ece cse they had 61 lpa. Companies start coming in 3rd year for internships, only 10% manage to get intern in 3rd year, companies like microsoft, atlassian, flipkart, mercedes, jp morgan etc. they do come. Placement perecentage is like 75-80% in electrical and it is very low in civil (around 40-50%), in cse it is like 90% or even higher. My plan is to get an intern asap. (Maybe in 2nd year theough offcampus)
