Remarks

College management is very good but it has to focus more on placements for m. Tech guys . B.tech placements are really good

Entrance Preview

I wanted to pursue a course in Petroleum engineering. I had lot of interest in oil and gas sector ( upstream). The course is a niche one. It teaches all the aspects of oil and gas upstream sector. It gives an internship opportunity with ONGC which is surely very helpful.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum is a classroom program for 1st year and thesis for the 2 nd year. The first year will include subjects like drilling, reservoir engineering, exploration, well logging etc. It will also involve Petroleum engineering labs which will teach us practical aspects of the course

Internships Opportunities

Yes the college provides internal internships and industry internships. The stipend is 7000 rupees.

Placement Experience

3.5

Almost 60% of the students were placed either in industries or as a faculty in other colleges where Petroleum engineering is taught. Infosys energy vertical, ONGC and oil india recruited students from our course , Rest got recruited by other colleges which offer Petroleum courses

College Events

5

There will be both cultural fest and technical fest conducted in the campus. Silent discos, coke studio, bollywood singers, garba dance, international exchange students, paper presentation. There are many seminars and guest lectures on various innovative technologies like geothermal energy

Fee Structure And Facilities

It is feasible. It is around 1.5 lakh per year and the hostel fees is 60000 per year. We have to pay the same fee for the second year also . If you are GATE qualified then you will get a stipend of 8000 rupees also . This will bring a respite to your pockets

Fees and Financial Aid

Loans can be easily availed but only from banks. There is a branch of STATE BANK OF INDIA inside the campus. Sbi gives easy loans on all the courses.

Campus Life

5

There will be Petroleum sector based competitions like oil and gas field bidding and robotic events like making a robot and robo wars. Also AIESEC hosts international students every year from 40 countries and regularly hosts events. SPICMACAY conducts classical music and dance events.

Hostel Facilities

5

The best hostel food you can ever get in india. You will be served non veg twice a week. And south indian, north indian, jain, gujarati, italian, chinese food will be served. There are special sweets like custard and halwa served on weekends. Other than that there is also petro cafe where you can get snacks

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni is helpful in getting funds and faculty but not helpful in placements. Sometimes alumni help us to get proper training facilities like labs and two week long offshore drilling operations training

Exam Structure

Exam structure is simple. Two mid exams and one-semester exam for every semester. There are two semesters in the first year. 2nd year is just thesis. There will be a final thesis presentation which will be judged by 6 faculty members. It should involve proper work and analysis.

Admission

The entrance test will be conducted and then there will be an interview. If you are GATE qualified then you will get certain an in the final score. These things will give us a final score and then we will get a merit list. Three merit list will be released.

Faculty

3.5

Faculty is mostly the retired officers of ONGC. There is the total of 8 faculty members. All are having a practical experience in oil fields. They have mostly worked on the gujarat asset of ONGC. They will be sharing their valuable experience with us.

It's a government institution. Don't expect things to be moving at the pace you want. Everyone does their work with their own convenience. They are least concerned with your problem. The quicker you accept it and get used to it, the better will be your life in the institute.

GATE 2012, Score 549 I am interested in doing research and work related to research. Have heard lots from friends who were my seniors from where i did B. Tech. Faculty and Facility both are far better than other NITs and as per my GATE score i was not getting admissions in IITs. So choosing this college and compared to NITs was a better option.

There is more of a bad experience than good. Very few faculties are supportive. Others do have knowledge but are not willing to share. I would rather prefer taking 2 years of industrial experience than taking a Master's degree from this college. I just feel like I bought a piece of paper in the form of a degree by paying very hugh price.
