Amit Bisht's Review On Nirma University, Ahmedabad

I took the exam conducted by nirma university for admission in masters course. I took this exam because I had scored poorly in the GATE exam. College has good reputation in gujarat and had received positive reviews.

The course covers pretty much all the subjects. Based upon the stream you choose the curriculum is very well designed and it can also be found on the college website itself. The second year is for thesis, where you have to give presentations through out the year. This will give you a better exposure and experience to the industry.

College will provide internship opportunities in the industry nearby. Also if you have your own contacts and manage to get an internship, that will be more easy. For internship and thesis college will give you opportunities. The stipend varies from company to company.Also if you have cleared gate you will also get the stipend from college.

Most of the students get placed in the colleges or institute that come for hiring for the post of assistant professor. IT companys like infosys, cognizant will also allow masters student to sit for the selection. College will give salary in range of 35 K to 45 K per month. IT company's will give around 3.3 Lpa.

There are tech fest for engineers and cultural fest for the entire college. Year around there will be many CCA and if you are interested you can participate in them. For masters there will be cricket and volleyball tournament and has to be organised by the students themselves.

The per semester fee for masters was around 65K and it changes every year. I would say it is quite expensive as compared to others but if you are getting stipend then the burden will be less. Fees has to be paid in the beginning of every semester. The fees structure is also available on the college website.

For masters college will provide stipend of around 12 K and I am not aware of any loan facilities provided by the college or the scholarship.

Campus is very serene and clean. gender ratio again depends on the branches, but you will find people from different parts of the country. Labs are good and well maintained, there are big playgrounds in the college and you can play different games. NIRMA is the national winner in robotics competition, if you are interested you can join it. There are debates competition held every other month.

There will be mid semester exams and end semester exams also there are two tests for each of the subjects one before and after the mid sem. The passing marks is around 40% of the combined exams and tests. Its not that difficult to pass the semesters though.

I had applied through the nirma university website. Their forms are available on the website itself and then you have to mail your credentials to the college. Once reviewed you will be called for the examination if you have cleared GATE exam you will be called directly for the counselling.

The faculty were quite knowledgeable and all of them holds a Ph.d or are pursuing Ph.d from the reputed institutes like the IIT's. Few faculty's have ample knowledge on the industry because they have worked in the industry for good number of years. They are always present to help you and guide you if you are having troubles with a subject or any project that you are working in.
