Course Curriculum Overview
The course I am studying is Bachelors of Technology in Mechanical Engineering. The course that i have been studying had a very extensive curriculum. It ranged from all the domains of mechanical engineering and providing a choice of electives in higher semesters so that students can also learn about various courses apart from their own maybe or maybe not related to engineering.
Internships Opportunities
According to the NEP, There are projects starting since the second year of our 4 year degree. This might change year by year but the students have the flexibility to choose what they want to do the project in under the faculty of their choice and get a chance to publish the reports in some conference. We are also asked to do a 4-6 week summer internship in between our 3rd and 4th year. and in the last semester you get a choice to either do a major project under a faculty or go for an internship in a company of your choice.
Placement Experience
The average placement for my course is around 6-7 LPA. Which for a fresher in engineering is a decent amount if you are not from IT department. The college guarantees a 100 percent placement for all the students enrolled for the placement. If a student does not wish to partake in the placement procedure, their are seminars and workshops to help them to pursue higher studies or help in their startup either in India or abroad.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees i pay for one semester is INR 92500. There is a reservation for NRI/Gulf students but their fees are comparitively higher. There are various scholarship opportunities especially if you are from Gujarat.
Campus Life
In a year, the college hosts atleast 7-8 events including technical and non technical with one event atleast every month. Their are various clubs you can be part of and there is open availability for all of them. The infrastructure is overall decent. There are 3 canteens where people can hang out and have social time with their friends with a variety of food and beverage options. There are various sporting events inter-departmental, inter-institute or even inter- college and every student gets a chance to showcase their talents.
Admission
I gave my JEE Mains Exam in 2021 and i also appeared for various exams like VITEEE and BITSAT. I got selected in VIT Vellore under Computer Science domain. I also got selected in MIT WPU Pune under Electronics and Communication. The reason i chose this college is for its extensive infrastructure and placement records. I looked for Return of investment rather than how high the average placement is. Compared to the other colleges that i got selected for, Nirma University provided a better return of investment than them and the lab facilities and the course curriculum was an added bonus.
Faculty
The faculty is no doubt a very experienced faculty in their respective fields. Most of the faculty is there to provide you assistance. There are 3 exams per semester in my course apart from the practical exam but this scheme has been changed under NEP and there are still 3 exams per semester but only one of them is written and the rest are MCQ based. The students are also graded on thei performance through the semester via continuous evaluation and assignments which play a role in the final grade they recieve at the end of the semester.
