What Students Say
Likes
- The college campus is clean and peaceful. The environment is good for studies and the classrooms and labs are well maintained and useful for practical learning.
- Most of the teachers are helpful and supportive. They explain topics clearly and also guide students for exams, projects and career related doubts.
- The college has decent infrastructure, library and computer labs. Various events, functions and technical activities are also organized during the year.
Dislikes
- Placement opportunities are average and only a few good companies visit the campus. Students need to work on their own skills for better jobs.
- Some teachers use old teaching methods and the syllabus feels more theoretical and less practical in some subjects.
- Canteen and hostel facilities can be improved. Also, sometimes management work is slow and takes time.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is well structured and covers all the basic and important subjects related to the field. This course includes both theoretical and practical subjects which influenced my decision to choose it. The syllabus helps in building strong fundamentals, but it is still more theory-oriented and less industry-focused. It prepares students for exams and higher studies, but for real-world skills, students need to do extra courses and self-practice. The exams are conducted every semester along with internal tests and are moderate in difficulty level. If a student studies regularly, the exams are not very difficult to clear. The curriculum should be updated more frequently and more practical, project-based and industry-related topics should be added.
Fees and Financial Aid
My course is B.E/B.Tech and the total duration is 4 years. The yearly fee in my college is approximately ?67200. In the first year, I paid around ?67,200 which includes tuition fees, registration fees, admission fees, lab fees, library fees and other development charges. From second year onwards, the yearly fees is around ?67200. So the total fee for the complete course is approximately ?2,68,000 to ?2,68,000. The fees increase slightly every year by around ?0. For other categories like SC/ST, the fees is much lower and they also get government scholarship benefits. Some students get MYSY or Digital Gujarat scholarship or merit-cum-need based scholarship, but I am not eligible for any scholarship.
Campus Life
Campus life in our college is good and enjoyable. Every year the annual cultural festival and technical festival are organized, usually between January and March, where many students participate. The college library has a good collection of textbooks, reference books and journals which are helpful for exams and projects. Classrooms are well maintained and most of them have projectors and basic digital facilities. The college also provides computer labs and Wi-Fi facilities. There are facilities for sports like cricket, football, volleyball and indoor games. The college also has different student clubs and technical groups which help students improve their skills and confidence. Overall, the campus environment is positive, friendly and good for both studies and personal development.
Admission
I applied to a few other colleges also, but either their fees were higher or the cutoff was higher compared to my rank. I did not get admission in some colleges because my merit rank was not enough to meet their cutoff. I chose this college because it has decent infrastructure, affordable fees and is closer to my home. Compared to other colleges, this college offers a balanced environment for studies. The admission process was simple and smooth. Admission was done through merit-based counseling as per university and state government rules. For engineering, exams like GUJCET/JEE are accepted and admission is based on merit list and cutoff. The college staff helped properly during document verification and admission process. Overall, the admission experience was easy and transparent.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio in our college is good and most of the teachers are supportive and approachable. Teachers are always ready to help students with studies, projects and exam preparation. Some teachers explain concepts very clearly and focus on practical knowledge also, while a few teachers mostly focus on theory. Overall, the teaching quality is decent. The course structure is based on the university syllabus and is divided semester-wise. There are internal exams, mid-sem exams and external university exams every semester. The marking scheme is a mix of internal marks, practical marks and theory exam marks. Exams are moderate in difficulty and if students study regularly, they can easily pass. Around 70–80% students clear the exams in one attempt. The curriculum is relevant but still needs more practical and industry-oriented subjects.
Night Life
The nightlife around our college is decent and mostly calm. Inside the campus, the library, gym and classrooms usually close by evening, and hostels have fixed in-time which is around 10 to 11 PM. After classes, students usually spend time in the canteen, nearby cafes or with friends in the hostel. Outside the campus, there are a few small food stalls and cafes where students go in the evening. The area around the college is generally safe, but students avoid going out very late at night. Most of the time, students relax by watching movies, playing games, or chatting in hostels. Overall, the nightlife is simple, safe and more focused on studies than parties.
