Entrance Preview

There was an entrance examination by the University itself held for the me during the month if February in abudhabi , being an BRI student. The entrance exam was a test on knowledge of various subjects which included basic accounting, English, problem solving and creative writing . What mattered was teh interview which had micro presentation as it's main component. The topic was given on the spot and the interviewers looked on how confident you are in front of them , even if you didn't have clear knowledge on the topic.

Course Curriculum Overview

2

My course is Bcom Professional which is an integrated course OF Bcom with CIMA and insurance/CS. It's well planned and gives us an advantage of a 10 paper exemption from the overall 17 papers of CIMA. This helps us to complete all these 3 courses within 3 years with proper coaching.

Internships Opportunities

No our college does not offer any internship opportunities. However , it is encouraged by the college faculty to take up internship outside the college . Our classes are from 6:30-12 and then 1-3 for 3 days a week and other days just from 6:30-12 . This gives us ample time to go for internships or part time jobs after college.

Placement Experience

2

The placements were good from the college. The companies which came to the college as per my knowledge alone are KPMG , PWC , Tata AIG, Earnest and Young , Dell , Wipro and more. Students were placed with good packages of about 4-8 lakh per annum.

College Events

2.5

Christ university is better known for its fests and extracurricular opportunities than academics. If you just looking for a place to study, Christ is not the right place. Christ is for those who want to develop multi dimensionaly. Cultural fests like Darpan , Blossoms are held every year. Business festing is is held in oru department . Our department especially gives a lot of opportunities to showcase our talents and also go for tests outside the college even outside Karnataka.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees is expensive when it come to our department that is the department of professional studies. As I told ours being an integrated course ,The fees is expensive . We have Sri Lankan faculty for CIMA classes. We pay more than 2 lakh a year and myself , being an NRI pay around 3 lakh per year. Also , we need to pay for the exam fees for Insurance /Cs and CIMA in addition to the fees.

Hostel Facilities

1.5

I don't stay in the college hostel. There are plenty of hostels and paying guests facilities around Christ Univeristy. The college hostel is very cheap and also very huge , clean a nd hygienic . They have single, double and triple sharing . Triple sharing is as cheap as around 40000 per year. But they do not have any mess facility. People staying in mess can have food from the canteen.

Exam Structure

The exams happen twice a semester . Mid sems and end sems are the exams that happen. More than that want matters is CIA - Continous internal assessment . There are 3 CIAs every semester , the 2nd one being the Mid semester exam . CIAs are quite hectic to be honest, especially when the assignments are to be done in groups. CIAs are marked out of 20 and Mid semesters are put of 50 and end semesters are put of 100. On addition to this 5 marks are for attendance

Admission

We had to first send our applications and the entrance was in February for NRI students. The first one was an entrance test , then we had creative writing . Next was the interview which had micro presentation and for some courses it included group discussions as well.

Faculty

2

The faculty is really good for some subjects and average for others. After all , it isn't school anymore and you would have to rely on your self more than on your teachers for passing your exams. However, most of the teachers circulate notes which are quite sufficient to pass. Our college does not give any textbooks . We will have to get them from the library or teachers use worksheets to teach us . Teachers are strict here , and strict with marking as well. So even if you write your exams really well , some of them might end up marking you less than what you expect. Teachers are of course well qualified and knowledgeable. The only concern is that some teachers despite being highly qualified , are not able to deliver that to students effectively.

The placement cell in my college is okay they do get few good companies for campus recruitment and they guide us thoroughly how and when we should apply for placement they do conduct some sessions and bring people to guide us with everything. The percentage of students getting placement is 50 or 60 percentage. My plan after degree is to continue pursuing acca and then finding a job abroad

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements from the 5th semester. Our college has a dedicated placement department that really guides and supports us through the whole process. Big companies like Deloitte and KPMG visit the campus every year, and since I’m doing B.Com + ACCA, there are plenty of great opportunities in finance and accounting. Last year, around 8 students from the B.Com batch got placed in finance roles. The average package was about ?6 LPA. The best part is that placements keep getting better every year, and the college has maintained a 100% placement record. They’ve even tied up with foreign companies, which opens up more global opportunities for us. After completing my degree, I plan to build a strong career in finance—hopefully starting with a reputed company like Deloitte or KPMG—and later explore opportunities abroad.

The college offers placement through the COC (Career Opportunities) cell. Students become eligible for placements by the 5th Semester. The companies which come to hire include the Big 4s, (KPMG, Delloite, EY and BCG), Fedral Bank,TCS, etc. Almost 70% of students opt for higher eduaction so the less number of students get placed at the UG level at least. I am personally figuring out which path to choose but I have placement in mind at the end of the degree.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My specific aspect of the curriculum that influenced my decision to choose the course is the ACCA along with Bcom. Most importantly the 9 paper exemptions provided that gives flexibility in the context of studying. The curriculum is well corporate and real world oriented. They prepare us on how to face the real corporate world through their curriculum by conducting different seminars and workshops.
