Course Curriculum Overview

4

Shri shikshayatan is a reputed college in kolkata. It was famous since a really long time for its courses, placements and disciplinary actions. I chose b.com hons in finance and accounting because i was very much keen about it. I can say that out college prepared us very well for the course with constant fests, competitions in the finance department. There are various clubs and societies as well which helps with the overall development of students. However i do feel like the college could do much better in terms of placements and teaching methods. They should conduct more seminars and be more practical instead of being theoretical. The exams were conducted frequently according to calcutta university. However, calcutta university should take a wise decision about students and conduct exams in time because they are always lagging behind compared to other universities.

Internships Opportunities

3

There are very less internship opportunities available at this college. We hardly get any internships. You have to find internships on your own by connecting through linkedin. Some internships come during final year but i am hoping to see some improvement in the up coming years.

Placement Experience

4

From the 2nd year itself campus placement drives starts and companies start coming to college with their job offers. The average salary is around 20000 per month and maximum is around 35000 per month. It also depends on your overall performance and results. Good enough if you can bag a good placement around 30000 by being consistent with semester grades

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees structure is decent just like other colleges. The total fees is 25000 per semester which means 150000 for the whole course in 3 years. Some scholarships are also available according to need but however those are just exceptions. The college/university also charges exam fees every semester which is around 300-400.

Campus Life

4

The overall social life at campus was great. The students are very friendly and helpful in college. You can even make friends for life if you are lucky enough. There are various groups, clubs and societies in college depending on the departments. In finance department fests and competitions are conducted very often and you can participate and enhance your skills and also win trophies.

Admission

The admission process was overall decent. There is no entrance exam as such in this college. However you need at least 80% in class 12, to take admission in this college. You also have to be consistent with your semester marks if you want a good placement from college.

Faculty

4

The class usually has 80-90 students per class and faculty to student ratio is decent. Overall the teachers teach really well and their way of guiding and teaching is decent. The professors are approachable and we can interact well with them. They also help us with clearing doubts and always guide us.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose the course the b.com because I want to become the CA but after completing the graduation my family condition was not very good so I quit my studies and searching for the job. My dream was after B.com then I complete M.com then CA but I couldn't do that. I'm pursuing because I'm interested in understanding how businesses work and want a solid foundation in commerce and finance. It opens up various career paths in accounting, finance, management, and more. Plus, it's a versatile degree that can lead to professional certifications like CA, CS, or MBA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is of course outdated. Teaching methods are old. No case studies, competitions or project of any sort is there in the curriculum. Although a project of 100 marks is there in the final sem, but I don't think that's enough. There is no practicality in the curriculum and usability in career. The syllabus really needs an uplifment.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is average , I chose this course because I wanted to do an honours degree and I'm from commerce background so my first pick was B.Com . They really put efforts to prepare students for well future , as I said earlier some teachers are genuinely very good helpful supporting and good at what they do . Something they need to approve is the 70% attendance criteria, I think they need to understand not every student is just persuing graduation they are doing some other courses or jobs etc so they can't maintain 70% attendance . The frequency of timing is average
