Remarks

Based on the professors its very good, infrastructure is avg, cleanliness good, the climate is good. I recommend this college if u want to study hard and want to enjoy. You have plenty of places to visit in Kerala. the student unity here known as SAC is very helpful to the students.

Entrance Preview

I was basically interested in computer science branch..hence during the admissions process I put my options according to the previous years statistics...so there is no reason for opting this college, only reason is that I could study my branch of interest here...but don't completely base on the statistics, put your choice of options also, maybe you can get it.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

According to other nits and our professors, NITC has the toughest curriculum and syllabi of all nits. Anyway if u are really interested in studying you need not worry about the curriculum.we have department specific electives for developing in the particular course and global electives, which we can choose based on our interests. (generally taken easy electives to increase the percentage).the department also provides special perks for students who want to pursue research.

Internships Opportunities

The college gives us a lot of opportunities for placement along with internships. All u have to do is maintain a min percentage and average coding skills so that u can attend the exam. The stipend varies ..in our year it ranged from 20000 to 1lakh. Goldman has offered 1 lakh intern...Jp Morgan has offered 50k intern...Linked in has offered 40k intern and some startups also took interns.

Placement Experience

4.5

If you are from computers and circuit branches, no need to worry, maintain a good percentage, you will get a good package ...CSE Tops the list in terms of the highest package of 33lakhs and avg of 12lakhs, ECE Highest is 18 lakhs and avg is 7-8lakhs, EEE comes with highest of around 14lakhs and avg of 6 lakhs. Companies: Like Goldman Sachs, jp morgan, Morgan Stanley, linked in, Arvind internet, dell, Microsoft, l&t, Qualcomm etc..and many more companies.

College Events

4.5

This is one point to discuss. Our NITC conducts one of the largest technical and cultural fests in south India in the name TATHVA and RAGAM respectively. where people from all parts of Kerala and students from other states also come to participate in the events.many food stalls, entertainment zones, and pronites which cant forget in our life.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Since the institute is under the central government. Different fee structures are there, based on income. Following are details per semester: (Income per annum) Income above 5 lakhs- 67k Income 1lakh- 5 lakhs - 25k Income less than 1 lakh - 2.5k Hostel room fees on avg are 1200 per month which is included with that month's mess bill.

Fees and Financial Aid

I haven't had any scholarships or loans but, many scholarships are provided by the state government and central government based on merit. Loans are provided only by the banks nearby the college.

Campus Life

3.5

Gender ratio on avg is 11:4. There are many clubs in the campus, which conduct different types of events and workshops.some of them Are RIG(robotics interest group), ISTE, DND(dance Nd dramatics), IPF (industrial and planning forum). and so many...Each club is different from one another focusing on different aspects like cultural, technical, robotics, aviation, logical. There is unity in diversity, in the campus, there is no gender discrimination, no racial feelings, no religious feelings, and no economical feelings...However, intra college politics exist in every college.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

The rooms were above average with no AC. (anyway u dint need one). Different types of hostels available based on studying year. 1year - 4 per room/ 2 per room 2 year - 2 per room/4 per room 3 year - 2/4 per room 4 year - 1 per room. All the mca, mtech, Ph.D., researchers have given single rooms with 1 mem capacity, with common bathrooms in all hostels. Hostels have plenty of rooms, so need not to worry. The avg room rent is 1200 based on the type of room and no. Of members. Cleanliness is maintained ed good in each and every hostel of the campus

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni of our college will still be in touch with the college professors and some of the students.they have done many improvements to the campus, such as the architecture alumni has built a creative zone for having small talks and events, and some alumni donated 300 umbrellas with nitc name and logo.every year there is an alumni meet so that they all come to the campus and recall their clg days and meet their professors.

Exam Structure

You have exams in three terms T1, T2 and end semester exams totaling for 100 marks. The corresponding weightage for each exam is decided by the course coordinator..rougly T1, T2 will be for 20,20 marks. Assignments/projects for 10 marks. End sem exams for 50 marks. The numbers may change acc. The teacher. T1 and T2 will happen in a month gap, where end sem exam will have the time of 45-50 days. At the start, u feel hectic, but u get used to it. Labs are common, u have 2 labs in 2 days in a 5-day working week from 3-5pm

Admission

Since it is a national institute of technology, admissions will be handled by the 'JOSAA'(joint seat allocation authority), which handles both iit and nit admissions at the same time. A week after the results we have to create an account in the josaa website using our jee main application number..we can put the choices in here. During my year we have to combine put our choice of nits and iits.

Faculty

4.5

Coming to faculty, we have professors, associate professors, assistant professors, ad-hoc faculty. Professors are very highly qualified in one of the finest institutes of country.who have done Ph.D.'s in their area of research and have a lot of teaching experience. Associate professors are the ones who have completed Ph.D.'s and are waiting to become professors after having enough teaching experience. Assistant professors are the ones who completed Ph.D.'s in normal institutes and passed the interview done by the colleges, the have a like 2-5 years of experience. Adhoc faculties are the trainees who sit in our classes to learn along with us and teach to our next batches. sometimes we get adhocs from other nits also.

Placement Experience:

The placement here is top notch. This year in my campus the highest CTC offered was 56.5lpa by PALOALTO. Placements process is centralised at coimbatore though. Students are eligible for campus placements from third year or s5. Average package in computing department ranges from 10-12lpa. My plans after degree is to pursue MS: opportunities of which are provided by the college itself. In computing department almost 90% of the students have been placed according to the seniors I talked to. However it is lower in other streams.

Civil engineering is a course with least placement in every engineering colleges. Students are placed during their fourth year in college. Sobha Constructions Ltd is one of the main companies that visits college. 200000rupees package is the average package offered. Les than 25 percent civil engineers get placed. I plan to prepare for GATE exam and pursue more in this course.
