The inside report of NIT Jalandhar

The course curriculum follows the New Education Policy (NEP). I am in first year so as much as I see there is no industry relevance in the curriculum. In the labs the teacher doesn't take the students seriously and just give them marks so that they can get a good grade. The frequency of exams is good. There are two exams in the semester the mid-term and the End-term exams . There are 3 quizzes in between for each subject.

I am in first year so I haven't get the internship opportunities. But I have talked to some seniors that there are good opportunities for internship. And many students of our branch also got PPO in maruti suzuki and BPCL.

From 7th semester the college students become eligible for the campus placements. A lot of companies like BPCL, Amazon, maruti suzuki , Accenture came here this year for campus placements.The highest package of our ME branch this year was 18 LPA and the average is 8.3 LPA. Thetr is 100% placement this year from our branch. My plan is to get campus placement in the core field .

This is a government institution so the tution fee is quite affordable. The complete fees for my 4 years course is around 9 lakhs .There are a lot of scholarships for SC/ST,OBC and PWD students. I have listen from college seniors that the placement of our Mechanical branch is quite good of our college . There is 100% placement in this year from our branch.

The campus Life is OK. We have our annual fest names " UTKANSH" happening in the month of March . And a technical fest named "Technity" happening in the month of September. The availability of books in the library is good . UPSC and GATE material is there if anyone wants to prepare for that. The sports facility is OK. I am in the college's official cricket team and sometimes we don't get the facilities like kits , balls and bats, and nets in time. But overall a lot of students are indulged in sports . There are a lot of clubs in our college in the field of dance , music, drama , Bhangra , GDSC, e-cell etc.

In the first hostels the rooms were made for a 3 seated occupancy but in current time it is given to 4 students . The food quality is good as it is in Punjab the food is nice. There is a library also in the hostel .The registration process for hostels was also very smooth .

To take admission in this college you have to go through Josaa counselling which consider your JEE Mains rank. The frequency of exams is good. There are only two major exams in the semester the mid-term of 30% weightage and End-term of 50% weightage and rest 20% based on quizzes and on class performance. The difficulty level of exams is moderate. The admission process was also good and smooth.

There is one faculty on 114 students . It is quite difficult for the faculty to handle such case. The faculties are highly qualified. A decent chunk of the are from IIT's . And the teaching style is a bit boring. Most faculties come and just starts reading the ppt. Approachability of faculties is good . There are tutorials in which you can ask any doubts regarding the class and other questions.
