What Students Say
Likes
- The infrastructure of Maharaja Agrasen College is really good, we have a huge auditorium, a big ground for almost all the sports
- The faculty is highly qualified as well, may it be of Electronics (H) or any other course, the professors are highly approachable and helpful
Dislikes
- MAC is around 5kms away from the nearest metro station so one has to take an E-rickshaw if she/he comes through the metro.
- Being an off campus college, it serves a disadvantage as college life's not that vibrant or cool with friends because there's no such spot to hang out in.
- Placements are not that great here, internship opportunities are great but cannot say the same for our placements.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is now more skill oriented after the implementation of NEP, and students find it really easy to cope up with the subjects due to the faculty and the way courses are structured. I chose electronics because I was always mesmerized by the beauty of electricity and EVs and the curriculum too is structured the way in which we learn machine learning, AI, data analytics, embedded systems apart from core electronics which diversifies the area of skills and interest.
Internships Opportunities
Internship opportunities are amazing, there's an internship cell (Ignite) in our college which takes care of the stipend and the ocmpanies which come to the campus. Companies related to sales, marketing, content writing, etc coem for example Decathlon, Corizo, Simplotel are the companies which came for internship opportunities with a decent stipend which ranges from 11,000/month in decathlon to 5-6 thousand a month for other companies.
Placement Experience
Final year students are eligible for the placement drives, though the companies do not pay that well but still interested students apply for them. All the other students can apply to the internship drive and it's very beneficial for students.
Fees and Financial Aid
Tution fees is less as it's a central government university. For Electronics (H) it was 16,000/year in our first year and in my final year it rose to 18,600/year, so fees did increase in our time. For other courses the fees is even less. Other charges include your stay, MAC provides hostel only for female students. Male students either need to look for paying guests or flats near the college which is affordable if one shares them with their peers. For students who'll choose metro as their means of transport will also have to pay 40 rupees for they E-rickshaw journey both ways (20 rupees).
Campus Life
Campus life is good, MAC's annual fest yuvaan brings in some good memories and games which is good for one's campus life but it isn't that huge, the fests are alright and the departmental fests too are okay in terms of their execution. Societies are quite active and they work for the college and they bring in fun to the campus as a whole and the frequent seminars our college provide with IAS, IPS officers, renowned politicians (Arvind Kejriwal), news channels such as NDTV, celebrities, photographers, journalists, doctors, etc from almost every fields to enhance a student's spectra of interest and knowledge.
Admission
My admission was when DU used to release the cutoff on the basis of 12th boards but now admission process is through CUET. Eligibility of Electronics (H) is that you should have PCM in 12th and the cutoff of CUET varies according to the number of students and difficulty level. One can visit their website https://mac.du.ac.in to check the application status and cutoffs. Otherwise the forms are common while filling out the CUET(UG) form.
Faculty
Faculty members are highly qualified and they tend to be more practical in their approach, for example in B.Sc Electronics (H), they teach the theory subjects using smartboards with enhances our overall learning ability and also the laboratories are well equiped with all the necessary apparatus, and the professors make it easy for the student to adapt to the lab environment and learn all the necessary experiments successfully. In other courses as well, the presentation, labs and EC rooms are full of skill oriented learning. Teacher to student ratio is good in most of the courses (except Bcom (H) which has 3 sections of its own), around 1:40, and their are multiple professors of the same course, different topics.
Other Applied Colleges
PGDAV College | Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] {Hons.} (Computer Science)
I had a specific interest in electronics and MAC offered the course
