Course Curriculum Overview
The syllabus is very light for applied psychology in this university. There are only 3 semesters which have written exams. The last semester is just project and viva. One factor i liked about the curriculum is that in the third semester we can choose our specialty based on our interests.there are 3 options counselling clinical and industrial psychology.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tuition fees is very minimal because it is a central university. The two years cost me less that 1 lakh rupees studying there and that includes the hostel fees and mess fees. Being a central university, there are many scholarships and grants which students can avail.
Campus Life
The campus life is very lively. There are a lot of programs which are conducted in this university. There is not even a day that goes by which doesn't have some sort of program. There are a lot of student clubs That operate within the campus that the students can join in and also sports are very much encouraged and many different types of sport tournaments, including football badminton organised within the campus that a student can participate in.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel room is a standard room. It is mostly a shared room and that's three people, but it has adequate space for housing three people in the host room. You have all the basic like a fan light and electiricty sockets, a table etc. The food quality in the Hostel mess is bad But in comparison with other central universities, it is of average nature.
Admission
To be eligible, for the course, you have to have an undergraduate degree in psychology and yet to appear for the CUET exam. If you score almost 60% in the exam, you may have a chance of getting a seat in Pondicherry University. The exam is not that difficult, however, it is wise to prepare well.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio in my department applied psychology was bad it was almost 25:1.The faculties are very qualified and knowledgable but being a central university the motivation to help the students among the faculty members are very low. There are some exceptions however i'm talking about the broader picture.
